Anyone from the far reaches of the Pacific Northwest considering making the trek down to the TEXAS STEEL GUITAR extravaganza in March?
To be able to take one's OWN AMP and guitar should be a joy.
Splitting the fuel costs and driving chores might make it economically feasible.
I checked on a bus charter and for a COOL $26,000 plus more for four driver lay-overs and air fare, etc., we could leave the driving to them! |

How about $376. For a RT ticket on Frontier Airlines?

Roger.........YOUR DEAL sounds a whole lot better than the one they offered me for the great big bus.
It took my breath away. |

...but you can sleep on the bus to save hotel bills, and with a voltage inverter you can fire up those amps and jam all the way across country.
You can't do that on a commercial airliner. |

Hey Ray ......... Wish I could go with you, since we live so close. Then we could talk more about Dave. How ever my 50th wedding anaversery is in March and I am saving up to do something for that, and I don't think a road-trip to a Tx steel function is what my wife has in mind. ............. Just what I was thinking Alan! A brown bag rolling jam session across state lines and all.
WHY NOT BRING YOUR WIFE and take here to the TEXAS show for that anniverary gift? Lot's of mighty fine people gonna be there.
And, it's better than a chain saw for a gift or any other tools I can think of. |

The majestic folks at the IRS say I am not allowed to have any fun or enjoy my self in any way, or have nice things this year else I would be in. A bus trip to tex would be pretty cool. _________________ GFI D10, Fender Steel King, Hilton Vpedal,BoBro, National D dobro, Marrs RGS |

|

Maybe we could scale down our expectations, and settle on a psychodelic painted VW bus, complete with gangster type white wall tires and halfmoon chromed hubcaps, you know, like the HIPPIES of OLDE, used to drive (This would have been PRIOR to the 1980's, of course!)
We could bring along one of those battery powered, cube-type amps that Ron Whitfield is always talking about, and play to our hearts content. The gals could take turns driving and passing out the sandwiches and liquid refreshment so we could all be properly hydrated when we arrived in Texas.
We could stop in a mall here and there and play for TIPS and gas money! WOW! What fun this could be but from the responses to my post, it doesn't look like it's gonna fly? |

Hey Ray.You forgot the most important advantage about going in a VW bus.Look at all the time you would have to play while broKe down beside the road. |

It's a shame I don't live closer to you, Ray. We seem to be of like minds. |

TRACY...........You're absolutely right. I'd totally forgotten that element about the older VW buses. And in some cases, didn't they catch on fire also?
And Alan........perhaps we could meet one day in Medford for sit down chit chat. |
