Someone has to start this so here goes...are they in denial or what? That nervous laugh that all three put out only proved their feelings of guilt...sorry Lloyd, but the little girl is all grown up except for the streak of rebellion that she insists on preserving and she did not convince me that she was sorry for anything..oh, I'm sure she's sorry that she hurt their career but she defends her right to say anything she wants to, just because she wants to...all the more making her look like the spoiled brat idiot that she is...obstinate, arrogant,conceited...if I keep going I'll tell you how I really feel. The interview..well, it did accomplish one thing. It made me all the more certain that I don't need to support them...never have, certainly not going to start. Hey, 30 million records sold????at .50 cents to them would be 5 million each...take your money and leave..go away..retire..move out of this awful country....execute your ego and be gone with you. |

Well, since you started it :-)
I also watched the interview and of course they are out to do damage controll. They still missed the boat as to why there is such flack when they mentioned other celebrities getting away with it. The celebrities don't politisize at a concert. Location really has no bearing on the subject.
It was put rather distinctly by a caller on a talk show in Denver. They do have the right to express their opinions; however they must be prepared for the consequences if they air them in public. Natalie shot off her mouth and now they should bear the consequences. I don't believe there would be quite a ruckus if she had said it off stage in an interview.
What does make me sad is the fact that they are more aligned to our type of music than most of the other country acts out there. There are no loud drums, electric guitars, etc. Just good harmonies and tunes that are closer to country roots than most. It should be interesting to see how it plays out.

This belongs in the off topic area with the other ignorant right-wingers.
Instead of worrying about what the Chicks said about your stupid president, worry about the Patriot Act gutting our constitutional freedoms, huge tax cuts for the rich, no justice for Enron, FCC giveaways to corporate media, a tanking economy, and on and on.
Oh that's right, as long as you have your guns and bibles, who cares about that other stuff :>)
cheers,
Drew Howard

HMMMMMMMMM!!!! My stupid President???? Perhaps you'd prefer Bill who let Osama slip through his hands, the direct result of which was Sept 11....Have You Forgotten??????He was too busy with interns to run a country and he's probably your hero...you and your liberal buddies from the left coast need to move away from this awful country. I've had the privilege to travel around the world twice and without exception, was approached in every nation by individuals asking me to sponsor them in an attempt to enter this terrible place with stupid Presidents....why do you live here? You're not that far from Canada..go north young man. you'll find your own kind. Bibles..YES I got'em...let's see, King James, NIV, New American Standard, Living Bible...they'll all tell you to pray for your leaders and those in authority....got my guns too...what kind do you like..got my Dad's .06, my Grandpa's .44 rifle, my wife's grandpa's 16 guage, a new Windchester riot gun, 12 guage, numerous .22's....Bibles and Guns...you probably prefer Guns and Roses. As imperfect as America is, at LEAST it has a President who believes in God..do you? |

My My My,
How soon we forget that b0b has closed multiple threads on this divisive and highly volatile subject.
Dear friends and members... We should refrain from posting subjects that divide us and concentrate on subjects that bring together our common interests,
Namely, Steel Guitar.

Point of information: The Dixie Chicks are selling out every where they go and their CD sales are up. Maybe we should move on. [This message was edited by David Doggett on 25 April 2003 at 08:04 AM.] |

Larry :
You did open a can of worms. I think 99.8%
of the American public agree with you. Even if we are ignorant, like Mr Drew Howard stated.
You know , there are always people like Mr Howard that use our constitutional freedom to display the yellow stripe on there back. Do you think they might have a
little French or German blood in there veins?

This is going to get closed down pretty soon, but I have to 'post' my feelings.
Natalie Maines, it seemed to me, was NOT furiously 'back-pedalling', but maintaining her stance; she did NOT apologize and clearly felt no need to. She agreed that the choice of 'platform' and the words she used were ill-advised, but she did NOT, I was happy to see, beg to be forgiven. The other gitls were staunch in their support, too.
Diane Sawyer struck me as being dumber than she usually is! She kept looking incredulous at Natalie's replies - I thought Ms Maines was pretty coherent, and I understood her position. She's no more a political analyst than I am, but (like me) she's not totally ignorant either.
I'm with her. I don't think this war was justified, neither I didn't want to see a single life - American, British or Iraqi - lost. In that sense, of course I 'support the troops'. The decision to fight isn't theirs, it's their job! I wouldn't mind betting that some of the Military are (on a personal level) opposed to this conflict, but they are doing their duty regardless.
I'm a more than a little sceptical about Bush' - and Blair's - claims that their motivations for this action are due to humanitarian concerns - that insults my intelligence (meagre as it may be)...
RR
PS: At least her dad got a mention as a notable steel guitarist! That was right, anyway. |

"I've had the privilege to travel around the world twice and without exception, was approached in every nation by individuals asking me to sponsor them in an attempt to enter this terrible place with stupid Presidents...."
Wanting to live here is not the same as wanting the U.S. to invade your country.
"Bibles..YES I got'em...let's see, King James, NIV, New American Standard, Living Bible...they'll all tell you to pray for your leaders and those in authority."
So just follow orders and don't think too hard, because it's so much simpler than to tax your pea brain with complex ideas like the Constitution and democratic discourse.
"...got my guns too...what kind do you like..got my Dad's .06, my Grandpa's .44 rifle, my wife's grandpa's 16 guage, a new Windchester riot gun, 12 guage, numerous .22's...."
Great, a heavily armed illiterate.
"As imperfect as America is, at LEAST it has a President who believes in God..do you?"
Wow. Is this HUAC, or maybe the Spanish Inquisition?

Drew.
I thought that picture of us was going to be private...
At least your hard hat was on straight.
( Couldn't help myself.)
More Accurately the little guy on the right would be captioned instead
"The Non Working Class" Including but not limited to, "Big Union Management", "Government Employees" "Career Dependents" "Union Protected Incompetents" "Bureaucrats" "Unsolicited Advocacy Groups. etc etc.
The Little guy with the surprised look and the hard hat could or should be,"The Working Class" "People who actually MAKE Money" "Business/ not limited to but including Construction Company Owners" "Investors" "Home Workers", "Musicians", "Day care providers", "Foster Parents" "Homeowners" etc. etc." or ..
Well... you get the idea.
Or maybe you don't....
Thanks for the smile. I'm headed out for a weekend gig at the coast to pay some more taxes for the "Non-Working"....

Eric,
Re: cute graphic. Rather, the "reamer" would be every CEO that makes 1000x the rank and file salary (the "reamees").
Example: American Airlines execs who kept their bonuses and golden parachutes secret while negotiating labor givebacks.
Example: Pump 'n' dump stock swindles made famous by Enron and Worldcom, as practiced by Dick Cheney and George Bush in their private sector days...
WAIT A MINUTE, THIS IS WAY OFF TOPIC!
