I'm looking for a way to make cheap rhythm tracks just to play along with myself. I'm not looking for quality sound here, just cheap and easy.
My thoughts so far:
1.Buy a keyboard ($$$$$$)to use the rhythm programs then add my own bass playing. But then I have to have another recorder to record both of these together which I think maybe adding $$$$ and extra work/time
2.Maybe some kind of drum machine or some other type of thing.
I can play bass to add to the mix if needed to make the tracks but as aforementioned I'm looking for the cheap and easy way to do this.
What do yall/you guys do?

You can get a lot of free MIDI files off the internet that you can play in your computer. I use 'Band In A Box' software from www.PGMusic.com. Great program - just type in the chords, choose a style and let 'er rip.

A good way to make tracks just to practice with is get a cheap[around a hundred bucks]casio keyboard, some have a lot of different rhythms, all the chords you can play with one finger, and bass lines.you can make pratice tracks any way you want them, any length, tempo,or key real easy.DYKBC.

I looked for a cheap keyboard for 3 months for use in keeping me on the beat and ended up with 4 keyboards. A friend of mine in Arkansas gave them to me and I have really grown to hate them. 3 worked and work well. I set them for a certain rhythm and they some how get out of rhythm with me.(I don't set all 3 at the same time) You don't think it could be me do you?
I thought I was ready to play outside the confines of my home but after playing along with the keyboard rhythm I believe I will do that at a later date. Keyboards are neat and simple to use. Please keep in mind that I have a great deal of experience in the pedal steel guitar since I have been persuing
the ability to play this wonderful instrument for just over a 1 year and 6 months. The longer I practice and persue the more I realize how much talent you players have been blessed with and how much you all have worked to get where you are in your playing today...jr
