Paul, the Star steel guitar is built by Mark Giles, who makes the lacquer cabinets for many of the current steel guitar makers. The guitars are well built, and the cabinet work is second to none. You can email Mark at mark@gilesguitars.net, his phone number is on my computer at work, I can email it to you tomorrow if you like. Mark does excellent work, and makes 6 string guitars, as well as steels.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, as well as some older MSAs, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Recently added a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored blue Rose, named the "Blue Bird" to the herd. Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic again that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also added a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks.

Star Steel Guitars

Post by Jeff Hanson »

Gentlemen,

Here’s mine. It is my understanding that Mark Giles is currently the sole proprietor of The Star Steel Guitar Company. I sure do love my guitar. Mark is a fantastic guy and in my humble opinion, builds one great guitar!

I do believe Mark Giles makes the finest finishes available.

Did I read that he does custom finishes for Jim Flynn (Lone Star Steels)?

I actually bought Mark Giles' Guitar last year in St. Louis at the Steel Guitar Convention. Mark is a great guy, and very honest. He is the main man now for Star Steel Guitars...NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH "LONESTAR STEEL GUITARS" (big difference), Mark has been doing Hi-end cabinets and finishes for most all the top manufactures for several years.

I have conducted my fair share of research on sound, quality, workmanship, finishes, pickups..etc...And it's my opinion that there is NO better Steel Guitar being made today.

I love mine, here is a picture.

They do have a new site under construction, the URL will be:

http://www.starpedalsteelguitars.com

and here is his contact info.

Mark Giles (254)386-5831

Tell him I sent you, and he'll be sure to double the price..LOL,
