A friend of mine found this photo amongst some old post cards and photos. She has no idea who it is or what type of guitars are in the picture. Could anyone help identify the person or guitars?

Ora Oubre, out in East Texas, has made a couple of 12 string pedal steel guitars with the tuning keys lined up like those on the 2 lap steels in the photo. 4 rows of tuners 4, 2, 2, 4.

Here is my guess with some help from a local Ham. It may be Gilbert J. Vivroux, W5ALN, licensed as Amateur Radio operator in the 1960's and probably eariler.
He lived in Guadalupe County, Texas, probably in Seguin, Texas where he ran a television repair shop for many years. He died 04-jan-1984.
And then again it could be someone using the shop of the Ham license displayed in the background and just a good friend. Either way looks like some pretty neat guitars in the picture. |

Thanks to all of you for your help. It is interesting to learn that there were so many different people that this could have been. Just shows how many fascinating people play the steel. |
