I'm not a fan of his singing. I think he talks, rather than sings.

Theresa,
I agree with you totally. They were interviewing him on WSIX-FM the other day and all I could think was "WHAT A JOKE"!

Maybe so, but in my opinion, his songs are some of the more meaningful ones to come out in recent memory. Goods songs don't make a good singer, but it sure doesn't hurt.

Walter Brennen and Captain Kirk didn't sing either. Smile

We're opening for him tomorrow in Ocean City, Maryland. Does he have a steel player? or at least a good band? I must admit I'm completely ignorant about him and his music.

Who is he? OR, as they'll ask in 6 months, "who WAS he?"

Everytime I have heard him sing live, he was flat, real flat.
His radio tunes have been, "these are my people" ,"cleaning my gun", "going thought hell" , watching you" and maybe a couple others.
If you listen to country radio, you've heard him.
I'm not a fan but he has some.

Chris, Rodney's steel player is Dan Galysh.

Brett, thank you, much appreciated.
Bo, I don't listen to "country" radio, so I'm not really sure if I've heard him or not. But I guess I will soon!!!!

Yeah, and I used to annoy my kids when they were younger by telling them that Charlie Daniels was "the father of rap music" for Devil Went Down To Georgia. Winking

And he even won a Grammy for "Best Vocal Performance" with that tune in the late 70's! Whoa!

Well, I missed his show, so I still have no clue about him. We had to pack up and hustle across town for another gig. But I guess I shouldn't complain, I'd rather be out pickin' and makin' money than listening to ALMOST anyone singing.
