Personally, I'd avoid band names based on puns. Since you're a trad country band, how about something like "Lead Singer Name and the Adjective Boys"

ex: Merle and the Straight-up Boys
Primitive Utility Steel

I'm a Minnesotan--- we would be:

Duck,Duck, and grey duck.

I would also consider "Moe and the Lawns"

Scott, in Minnesota, wouldn't it just be "Pretty Good Country Band"? ;-)

I think anagrams are interesting. If you use an anagram generator on the net, punch in the bandleader's name or all the band members first names, etc, it will give you hundreds of possible combinations, all very original sounding.
Sometimes humorous and appropriate as well.

For instance:

Steel Guitar Forum = Multistage Furore

b0b might agree. Perhaps he might prefer:
Frigate Tremulous
:)

I love anagrams, too-

My name anagram alter-ego for any dobro credit is "C. Tomcat Howls"
My hip-hop moniker is "T-Low Satchmo"
Great fun.
