Charles Tilley is also a wonderfull player as well

There is a lot of good picking this month. Some notable things are Mike Perlowin's recording. Different than any thing I've heard on steel, sounds great. The new song by Charles Tilly is just beautiful, and I've never heard slide guitar sound so pretty. Great job by Bob McCormick.

I have been playing Mike's new Cd for the last three days when I could and all, I can say ,Mike, is, it is OUTSTANDING. You have shown what a versatile instrument the Steel Guitar is in the right hands. Your CD has extended and expanded the possibilities of the Steel Guitar. so all in all., a great accomplishment.....al

Charles has posted an Old Eddy Arnold tune I did some time ago " I'll Hold You in My Heart".
This was one of my Dad's favorite tunes,When I would come home for a vist, out would come the old Martin I would hook up my Rickenbacker and the neighbors would all be there.He would sing and I had to do the ting-A-Ling so it would right or he would quit singing and get on to me.
The wonderful days.

Vern : How come you know just what to play to make the hair stand up on the middle of our backs. I so loved all the Eddie Arnold Songs with our good buddy, " LITTLE ROY WIGGINS" doing his signature " Ting- A- Ling Riffs " in the back ground. Your playing this tune brings tears to my eyes..Thanks, Vern, for sharing the song with us. Superb is the word I was looking for.. As always..Bernie

Excellent job on that tune Vernon..I love the clean sound you are getting. Charles has posted my new song ...it is a song done by the Eagles back I guess in the 70s when I was in high school called "Lying Eyes". I am not a real big fan of rock music but after hearing Doug Jernigan do the song on one of his albums I just got attached to some of the great rock songs from the older days.

John : A very fine job on your Eagle version of " Lying Eyes ". I'm like you, there were several of their songs which were nice listening. A lead singer of ours loved the Eagles so many is the time we were doing one of their tunes. " Lying Eyes" being one of my favorites.

Mike Headrick : listened to your version of " I Love You A Thousans Ways ". Absolutely the nicest redition of the song which I've had the pleasure of hearing. You play a fantastic Steel.. Bernie

I do have a gospel cd but its not new

but I am going to do a new cd in the next little

Derrick-I just heard your song "Hawaiian Wedding Song". It was beautiful rendition. Nice Recording.
I have always like the old Hawaiian songs, as that was got me interested in the first place in the steel guitar in 1936. Tilley has posted my new song "Embraceable You" Which is an old pop standard of the 40's and 50's.Thanks to him that we can hear all these fine recodings of the members of our Forum...al.

Hi Al,Embraceable You, what a nice rendition, and such a soft touch, don't think I could play that yet, as I have only had my twin neck for about 2 months, althou I did have one for a while, but it was so heavy I got rid of it before I got to grips with it.
Now have the super pro,it's a lot easier to move around, so I am using it more, and the c6th is so interesting, thou I may have left it a little late to start learning.You say you got an interest in the steel guitar in 1936, 2 years before I was born, and your web page is so interesting, what a history, you have certainly grown up with the steel, and I would suggest to all our other friends in steel gutar, to go look at your web site, it's so full of history, and a persons life, playing the steel guitar, I need to go back and read some more myself.
I see your first sho bud is identicle to my first sho bud, nice steel, I loved it with the mini pedals, as we called them over her,as they were just like the excelorator pedal on a mini car, and you foot never sliped off, as they tend to do on the thinner pedals, thou mine did suffer fron lack of sustain, so I used a thing called a,Watkins Copycat, with a tape running round all the time.
The lap steel is a new interest for me, I love the warm sound it makes, and like you,I love the Hawaiian
music, but I am trying to stay on the songs most folk have heard over the years, the standards so to speak.
Many thanks for your kind comments on the wedding song,and it's nice to have made a new friend, thou we have many of them playing steel, but you don't get to talk to too many of them, we just watch each other,and listen.LOL.

I got a chance to listen to some fantastic songs on the site here...Jozef Smith's Hula Blues, Slim Pickin's Hawaiian Wedding Song, Howard Tate's Don't Close Your Eyes, Embracable You by Al Marcus and Gene Jones September song. I've known about this Website since it started..but could not send MP3's...That is until today when Charles Helped me convert MPEGs to MP3's..and attach my songs in an email.Listening to all you Gentleman play is really wondeful! Now I'm gonna go practice!!!!!

Howard, I tune my C6 neck to a B6. It seems to me to be somewhat mellower in tone, and I use standard C6 string sets and standard C6 pedals.

I finally had the time to download some of the songs on Charle's site. They all sounded like very good recordings to me.

Mike Archer-"Sweet Dreams"--sweet E9th playing

Vern Hester-"I'll hold you in my heart" A very professional rendition of a great country classic.

Bill hatcher-A fine version on "Summertime", did you play the background and the solo separate, then mix them? Nice recording.

John McGlothin-I liked your version of "Lying Eyes", nice background too.

Terry Sutton-"Song for Sarah". Paul Franklin would like your smooth, sweet version of his song.

Gene Jones-I was going to put "September Song " on for this month. I am glad I didnt. as yours is a great recording of that Classic tune. Nice backup too.

Hey guys, Gene has a CD with that tune in it Called "Just for Me" and a lot of good C6 on it. I got mine, a Great CD and in the original syle of Gene Jones. Better ask him if you can still buy it.

Tilley's last tune was , as usual top notch. He just does it every time. Great Backup, clean pure sound, etc. Are you playing that nice Dobro in it. ? It sure is nice. Thanks Tilley for this site that we can hear are all the great steel on it....al.
