1996 COLLINGS D2H Acoustic Guitar. Very lightly used, only in studio. Excellent condition. No issues, and one of the best tops of any guitar I've ever seen. Loud but very balanced sound. Is the top Adirondack or Sitka spruce?

An adirondack top should be called a D2HA.

Top is sitka with lots of crossgrain (medulary raying).

Is the nut 1 3/4 or 1 11/16 ?

Standard on the D2H is 1 11/16"

Even though 1 11/16 is standard I've seen a few D2H's that were 1 3/4 that's why I was asking about this particular one. Makes a difference to me.

It was a good question. I myself prefer the 1 3/4" wide nut.

The width at the nut is 1 11/16. standard Collings nut dimension. Happy to answer any other questions. JW

I owned a Collings D2H just like this one and they are simply fantastic guitars. This one is priced reasonably and should make someone very happy.

Collings Guitars are manufactured right here in my small hamlet (two traffic lights) of Cedar Valley TX. They're considered collector's items straight from the factory, one of the finest, if not THE finest, commercial acoustic guitars... and mandolins, for that matter... available today.

Jon's is a beautiful guitar, prob'ly a tone monster, and a good deal at the bucks he's asking.

Thanks Herb. Yes this one is a particularly great one. I love it and surely would not sell except for the fact that I will never play spanish (standard) style again, due to a left forearm tendon injury. I take it out occasionally and strum a big fat G chord, but really It should be seriously played. The good news is that Hawaiian style (pedal steel, dobro lap steel) are no problem. I don't think I've ever picked up an 'average' Collings. Every one I've examined has been superb. The top of this one is particularly beautiful!

If this was a '000', John, I'd be sorely tempted!

Just thought I'd help John out by mentioning that the Waverly tuning machines on this guitar would cost you $165 by themselves. This is undoubtedly a fine instrument, you can tell just by looking at photos of it.
