It is a electra zephyr 6 string which Shot Jackson's widow told me was a 35 or 36 year ser# 6298 very nice looking with a pick up that looks like a 50's tele pick up has a volume knob that reads soft -med and loud and the other knob reads mellow-master normal normal- then brilliant all in very nice shape Donna said Jim Murphey bought all Shots collection but she found this one later or he would have got it to and said Shot said it was a 35 or a 36 I think it is all original and a black alligator case hard shell that has a E emblem inside the case on the upper part of the felt that looks like epiphope this things sounds and looks great need to know more about it if I could and a fair price I do think it is worth some bucks just because it was Shot's personel collection and as nice as it is and plays great and sounds great the keys are georgeous pearl and closed back which has the E emblem on them the guitar is white with black neck and back with felt pad on the back and on the back side of the neck. Please let me know if you can help in any way or want to do some trading or buying I just know I will not sell this peice of history cheap knowing what I know coming from Mrs. Shot Jackson with the receipt what a great lady telling me the whole story behind this great lap steel.

Bill,
Please post photos of this lap steel so we can comment on it.
For what it's worth, the Vintage Guitar Price Guide shows the Epiphone Zephyr as worth between $550 and $700 USD in "excellent" condition. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

The Epiphones (if that's what it is) had an aluminum plate on the top of the wood body, on the types I've seen, usually painted black. Some has horseshoe magnets also. |

Bill, I don't believe the Zephyr models (as shown in the link) ever had the metal plate or the horseshoes.
But they had a good sound all their own.
However, Epi surely did make a steel as you describe, and is a great sounding instrument. Wish they had made 8 stringers like those. |

the Zephyr does not have a horseshoe. I know. I own one. there is a bent metal guard over the pickup. it could look like a horseshoe in a pic.
Epiphone Zephyr and Century. 1940 and 1939 respectively:
both went for 350$ four years ago.
