Odd 7 string layout.

I just purchased an acoustic 7 string guitar I believe is a late 30's Stella 7 string with this layout hi to low. .014p .018p .022p .034w .045w .054
.023w. I have the guitar tuned to low bass G (DBGDGDE) again hi to low. Having .023 on the outside is working very well. I can tune it to E for the G6 and minor chords or to F for dominant 7 or F# for major 7 chords. Its very easy to pick with the thumb for accent and my usual 6 string grip stays the same. Pretty cool. The finish on the guitar is excellent and the faux panel is a nice art deco touch. I have the tools so I took the plunge and fabricated a new ebony bridge and bone saddle and a new wider spaced bone nut. More like a dobro now. Tone up, volume up and the grip is much easier now. A Dean Markley transducer pickup toped it all off. I'll be playing it next week in Chambersburg PA at Hot Java. We,ll see.

Weird, I recently bought a 7 string acoustic myself but by an entirely different manufacturer... I call it my KGB special; it was made in the Ukraine by the Ministry of Music, during the Soviet days.

I haven't seen a 7 string acoustic available in years, now two pop up in a matter of days between each other...
