I need a Basic Woodworking Project done for me.
I'd like someone who does a lot of woodwork type crafting to contact me for a fairly simple project.
I need a 14x8 square chessboard made with about a 1" border. The squares need to be around 2.25" square. You could use any kind of wood as long as there are dark and light squares. Maple and rosewood or ebony would be nice.
Cutting out squares to glue together will not work. The easiest way would be to cut 2.25" wide strips of maple and rosewood (or something dark) and glue them side by side alternating from dark to light. Then cut across the rows and reverse every other strip to get the checkerboard design. The light colored squares need to be in the lower right and upper left corners.

Checkerboard
I've got some questions, but I think I can do this for you if you're still interested. I'm in the process of building a box that has a checkerboard front and back that I built in the manner you described. Email me if interested and we'll work something out.
Using Walnut and Maple would look nice and would be a lot less expensive than Pauduk, Bloodwood, or other exotic woods. I have a pretty good selection of wood and can build it anyway you want it.
Get in touch,
bob

Gary, if Bob can do this in a timely manner, let him have at it. I've got too many irons in the fire at the moment to give it the attention it needs. I keep trying to hurry it and all I'm doing is making expensive sawdust.
