New Terry Miller Steel Guitar CD - Wow!

Post by Gerald Ross »

HSGA board member and forumite Terry Miller has just released a fabulous new CD of steel guitar favorites.

'Coconut Candy' is a collection of nine beautifully played and recorded non-pedal steel guitar classics.

Songs include:
1. Lovely Hula Girl
2. How D'ya Do
3. Sunset In Maui
4. Pupuli Hule E
5. South Sea Island Magic
6. In A Little Hula Heaven
7. Pidgen English Hula
8. Rainbows Over Paradise
9. On Kona Kai (studio recording)

Terry's playing has been a delight at the last few HSGA Joliet Conventions. His style is Hawaiian but his Jazz/Swing roots are very evident in every note he plays.

My faves on this disk? Sunset In Maui, On Kona Kai and Rainbows Over Paradise. Terry really shines on these jazzy "Hawaiian Exotica" styled numbers.

Here's a sample from the CD:
Sunset In Maui

Get this disk! Terry will have them for sale at HSGA Joliet 2008.

Oh yeah, I forgot. All proceeds of the sales will go to the HSGA Scholarship fund - THANK YOU Terry!

Terry,

Just listened to "Sunset in Maui". That is virtuoso playing, wonderful stuff. Just love your melody nuances that seem to effortlessly blend in with the chord progressions. Can't wait to buy your CD; "Maui..." is so refreshingly new compared to the usual hapa haole tunes..

In anticipation,

Kay

That will come in handy with all of those Hawaiian kids wanting to learn steel now!! 8) For this generosity, the HSGA owes you a debt of gratitude.

Terry is the perfectionist of all perfectionist. His music has to be top notch and it is top notch.

Since he is my neighbor, I did get to hear some of the cuts before it was recorded. Terry has great mastery of the steel.

I just want you all to know, that I am opposite of Terry! :?

Aloha, :)
Don
