John. I have one that I've used for some time. I don't remember if I bought it $19.95 or downloaded the trial, but it works well. Here's the site.

The quality of the "Wave" conversion may suffer if it is a low MP3 compression file to begin with. The end result wave file can be no better than the starting MP3 file and sometimes a phasing thing will occur during a digital conversion from MP3 to Wave. remember, MP3's files started life in another higher quality format and were then CONVERTED to MP3 by some compression, now we are asking to take that compressed file and convert it to a higher quality format once again. Strange things can happen.

In same cases it may be better to just cave and record the MP3 tracks LIVE to your recorder.

Cool Edit 2000 is the primary program I use for these types of things. Also Music Match , which is a $20 program from Best Buy and such.

good luck

Thanks Tony, I have a VS1680 recorder, & wanted to use some tracks to record with. For some reason I thought the tracks would have to be in wave format in order to put them on the recorder. I wasn't aware that I could put them on as mp3..

I don't know if your recorder accepts MP3 files or not , many older units do not. I am saying you may have to PLAY your MP3 file and RECORD it onto your recorder for a better cleaner track than a software conversion.

good luck

OK thanks, I understand.. The recorder is not new, but not vintage.. I will check on the Roland forum, & see if it'll take mp3's..
