I thought some of y'all may like to see this ...

Ed B. from Kauai had a dying Magnetone that he wanted a new pickup for.

He asked about a "Potbelly" ... but it turned out that the routing would have been too extensive ... basically extending into the Vol/Tone control cavity ...

He just finished the installation and sent me this "pictorial" of the process ...

Here's Ed ...

Aloha Rick,

Well, your fountain pickup is in the Magnatone, and it sounds great! I'm really pleased with the results. It's everything I had hoped it would be.

I've attached a Microsoft Word document with photos of the installation.

Rick, thank you so much for making this happen. To have one of your pickups in the guitar is a real treat.

I really like the sound: excellent tone and sustain, and the harmonics pop right out. And to have all that in an unassuming little Magnatone just tickles my fancy. The guitar is going back to Kauai with me in September, so if you're ever on the island, come visit and give the instrument a whirl!

Thanks again,
Ed

Very cool work ... Mr. Green

Hmmmm....
Thats a great idea with the RTV. I'm setting my Fountain in the changer slot of the gutted Fender 400 I have. I had to route it out a little wider for it to fit.
I could tape up the bottom and fill it up.

The Fountain and this big hunk of Swamp Ash, along with the 27" scale I'm setting up is getting along like Peas and Carrots!

Pictures soon guys , I promise. I'm waiting on some nice Ziricote for the control cover and shes all done.
