Here's a little 2 minute excerpt from a tune called "Tangled Intentions" from my new instrumental lap steel CD. Hope y'all dig it!

Steve, I'm a jazz fan so I dug it immensely. The syncopation between you and the sax was excellent, I don't think I've ever heard anything quite like that before.
I hope you don't mind me asking this tired old question but what tuning were you using?

Mark

Thanks guys! The tuning is open E. I've been struggling mightily over the past few years to convert all of the Tom Morrell licks I tried to steal, from my previous A13 tuning to E. Obviously this doesn't even begin to scratch the surface(it didn't in A13 either!),but it's a start.

As a steel and sax player, I thought it was very cool. Who was on sax? I thought the steel and sax unison stuff was very tight. But still, I'd like to here a little more harmony and counterpoint, to bring out the different tonality and playing styles of the two instruments, yet blended together.

That is one hot sample. I dig the tone on your guitar and great playing all around. Is the whole CD like that?!

I just got the CD on Friday, and have listened to it quite a few times now.
Mitch-the entire album is awesome, Steve does a great job painting different colors and styles. There is something for everybody here.
I can't remember the last time I heard a CD that inspired me to play so much.
Thanks Steve, this is a great CD. When is the next one coming out???
Jay
PS Steve-Is there any plan for you to come out to the west coast for some shows? Northern Ca.???

Jay

I appreciate it y'all - thanks to you guys who picked up the CD too!

Jay, it'll probably be a bit before I put out another CD, this one just came out 2 weeks ago. Hopefully within a couple years.

The only time I ever make it out to the west coast is to play with my corporate (strictly$$) variety band, and they don't want to know NUTHIN' 'bout no lowdown lap guitar...I play it anyways. Nothing like Beyonce and Billy Idol covers with lap steel!
