As a beginner with the pedal steel I have some issues that I need to address. Being of a rather portly stature and short of leg and shoe size,I'm having a tough time reaching the RkL & RkR on my D10 sho-Bud. In order to reach RkL & RkR I have to sit at approx.45degrees left in order to reach RkR. I can reach the RkL but it's close.
I guess my question is, is there an easy way to move the RkR closer to the back of the E9 side or even better, all the pedals to the C6 side?
Is this something that a novice could do or if it can be done should it be done by a pro? I really hate to sell my bud but I'm thinking I'd be much better off with a single, being time and cost to change over may cost more than a newer single. Anyone have a suggestion? _________________ Sho-Bud D10 With 8 & 4

Rest easy. Any good steel tech can put the levers any where you want them. If you're handy with tools, and have some patience, you can move them yourself. I, too, prefer all my levers near the back apron, instead of stuck up under the middle of the guitar.
You could also look at putting "flags",or paddles on the levers. These are large, flat plates affixed to the levers that extend them towards the rear of the guitar, for easier reach and more comfortable operation.

What Donny said. But as a beginner you may not be aware that most of us don't sit squarely in the middle of the instrument. I think most of us have our belly button somewhere up around the 15th-18th fret, which puts us closer to those right knee levers. So go ahead and sit wherever you think you need to sit. Then if you still need the levers moved, take a close look at what it would involve mechanically. If you feel up to it, go for it. If not, any tech can do it, and it wont cost that much. If you have to ship it, the shipping will probably cost more than the parts and labor to simply move the levers. |

Those paddles look pretty comfortable but they will not get them to the rear of the steel. I have heard tell of a gent in central Mass whose last name is Cass. I understand he is a whiz with a bud and he only lives about 40 miles from me. Is there anyone out there that can get me his address or phone #. This Bud is to nice for me to butcher up. _________________ Sho-Bud D10 With 8 & 4
