I'm considering putting my T-8 Stringmaster up for sale in the near future but I'm new to the non-pedal market. This guitar was built in Dec. of 1960 (Date under tuner pan). Somewhere along the way, someone adorned it with chrome coated plastic trim between the necks and on the front and back top edges. It looks neat but I don't want to try to remove it as I'm afraid it will damage the guitar.

I'm curious as to how much that will affect the resale value. I've seen these things go for as little as $1200 and as much as $2400. Anyone have a clue as to how much to deduct off for something like this?

She looks pretty clean, Tony. I bought a '68 T-8 for $1500 two years ago that finish-wise wasn't as nice as yours. Watch Ebay and the forum. Sometimes they come in droves.

Erv,

They are actually a chrome-plated plastic trim that a former owner put on. They are trimmed and formed quite nicely and the installer knew his business. Unfortunately, they did not realize that it didn't help the value of the instrument. I think they do look nice. Just my opinion, of course.

Tony,
You should get an easy 2 out of that. The finish is very nice, and there are folks that could remove the chrome trim without damaging the guitar.
