Rodney will be here in Kingsport Thursday as part of Fun Fest and does he have a steeler?

Rodney doesn't have a steel player yet, but on the CMAs last year, Robbie Flint was playin' steel onstage with him. Robbie's with Alan Jackson. A friend of mine in Nashville said he almost got the gig playin' steel for Rodney.

Yeah, Dan sent me a pm yesterday and said he has been with RA since April. Hopefully we'll hook up Thursday and talk shop.

I wondered when Rodney would get a steel player cause all the songs he's had out recently feature great steel and I saw a steel player on the ACMs with Rodney and I had no idea it was Dan. Now Rodney features both fiddle and steel in his band.

Actually yall, i dont know if you payed close attention, but when Robbie was on there with Rodney, he wasnt playing the same stuff. In other words, when Robbie was down low on the neck, the steel on the music was up pretty high on the neck. Rodney just had Robbie fill in some space on stage. But i dont mean that to cut Robbie down. He's a good player. I just play REAL close attention to the award shows to see what everyone's doing. And most of the time they are just singing with tracks. Most of the time its fake...

I hope I get to see you, Tony.
Brett, that was Smith Curry subbing for me on the ACMs (he's a better looking fella than me).

Ok, i stand corrected. I may have seen Robbie with someone else. I couldve sworn it was Rodney. Oh well, thanks for the correction Dan!!

Dan and I seem to be trading gigs a bit lately.... Ironically, I was supposed to play with Ashley Gearing at that gig in Kingsport, but the label got cheap and cut steel. Small world!

Hey Dan, it was a pleasure meeting you and I got to hear some of the show and you sound great on pedal and lap steel. Sweet tone!
