New CD entitled 'Hallowed Ground' by a band called 'Hawks in L.A.' has some nice steel work.
Sounds very country rock to me.
Anyone know anything about them and who is playing steel?. |

Their web site names the steel player as Dave Zirbel |

Dave is a fellow Forumite and also a fellow Sonoma County resident, he's not a regular member of the band but records with them and plays some regional gigs with them.
My brother got to see them play recently here in Northern California near Santa Cruz, with Dave on Pedal steel but unfortunately it was too far a drive for me.
Maybe he'll chime in here when he gets the chance. _________________ Mark |

Thanks Clive! Yes it's safe to call them country rock. I call it Hippie Country. Don't forget to mention that forum member John McDuffie plays pedal steel on track 12 of the new cd and also on their second cd. I also played a little pedal steel on the third cd and any reso or lap steel on any of the 4 cds was done by band member Paul Laqcues.
Mark, next time they come to Northern Ca you can ride with me to gig if you like!

Great to see you doing this, Dave!
I was hoping to hear what else you're up to since the tour with Commander Cody.

Aloha Ron. It's no secret. It's all on Myspace! Just click the link below. I would love to get back to the islands! It was big fun.
