Re: Haggard
Have you seen Merle perform lately?Brad Rigby wrote:Norman Hamlett has always been a tasty player. Merle Haggard (in my opinion) was the Greatest Country Singer that ever was, or will be. But Merle is done. He is merely a shadow of his former talent and his voice is poor. He should quit now before he tarnishes his career, but these guys want to hang on forever.
I've seen him 3 times in the past two years, and about a dozen times over the past 35 years.
I can say that Merle sounded better the last two times I've seen him, than the first two times in the '70's.
He's not even close to tarnishing his career.

Norm's CD
I'm not sure at this time where his CD can be bought. I would imagine he is selling them while he is on the road for the next few weeks with Merle.
I hope when he gets back to Bakersfield, he will let the Forum know where they may be obtained. I received mine from a friend in Bakersfield who is a good friend of Norm.
From what I understand, he uses the STRANGERS minus the horns as backup for the CD. Lots of good stuff.
If I can find out more, I will post it on the Forum.

Brad no ill intent meant but apparently you are not a true Hag fan..None of us can be the same person at 70-71 as we were in the prime however a true fan will be a true fan until the Artist is gone...Merle whom I got to hear last year was great and his show is still a Country lovers best value for any price..Oh and Speaking of Price him too...

Norm
Hey Joe, I have seen older players and singers that preformed either as well or in some cases better than in their younger yrs... I think Merle is great now , and Norm has played some of his best stuff at St Louis and Pheonix recently, for sure ...Norm always captures the feel of the songs ...how many of the young guys can do that? I noticed that even later in yrs Joe Morrello still had the "chops" that kids don't ever really bring to the gig. Even 3 yrs ago Mooney & Whitmore played "Rainy Day Woman" so right on that I had to stop selling my "good & wares" to make sure I didn't miss it. Dick Curless & a guy named Casey, added to my list. Hope we're back on topic . Jerry Fessenden
