Is it OK to ask for a ballpark for value of a steel?

Pedal, lap, Hawaiian, resonator ... anything played with a bar

People have done it before on here. If you can't ask here, where can you? I don't see any problem with it. Some of the bargain hunters might be disappointed their game is spoiled, but so what?

Yes. Ask in the "Pedal Steel" section if it's a pedal steel, in the "Steel Without Pedals" if it's non-pedal, or in the "Music" section if it's a different kind of instrument.
