Real Dobro 6 String Resonator Guitar /SOLD/

Post by George King »

SOLD....This is a Dobro model B2 175 91D .I believe it was built in the early '90s.It is a light -blonde maple color with a pearl style inly in the neck.It is a square neck and has a pickup inside that sounds great through a PA or acoustic amp.Has the original dobro case.I had one guy tell me that this may possibly be a Jerry Douglas model because of the inlay but I no very little about acoustic instruments and the numbers above are the only ones I can find on it.This is a good dobro.$850 May consider a steel guitar related trade...Thanks George

The good news is that it is indeed from 1991, an OMI Dobro made in southern California, before Gibson took over.

It is not a Jerry Douglas model, those came along several years later under the ownership of Gibson, and the manufacturing was moved to Nashville.

Regardless, that is a fine looking instrument.

To clarify a point, yes, as a 1991 model, it's too early to be a Jerry Douglas Model, but the JD Model started in Huntington Beach not long after the Gibson takeover (1993). Very few HB-era models continued to be made after the long and trouble-fraught shift from SoCal to Tennessee, but the Jerry Douglas Model was one.
