My theory is that 75% of all statistics are made up.

Since that statement can be shown to be either true or false to a high degree of probability (obviously not ALL statistics can be checked), it is a hypothesis and NOT a theory.

I betcha can't guess... Hint: It begins with an "n"..., can often be preceeded by the word "absolutely", and was what the alchemists got when they tried to turn lead into gold...

Few statistics are made up. But they are all selected and processed - garbage in, garbage out. Or, more appropriate for this thread - nothing meaningful in, nothing meaningful out.
