The Yaarab Shrines Entertainers Unit of Atlanta, Georgia is sponsoring another day of music. Some of the steel guitar player that will be there are Larry Sasser,Bill Ferguson, Tommy Dodd, Tim Hamilton, Larry Moore, Bill Cunningham, Charlie Vaungh, Bill Nicholson, Wade Medlock, Gaylon Mathews, Roger Crawford, Bob Farlow along with some of Georgia's best musicians. If it is where you can come it will be November 3rd at the Sweetwater Shrine Club in Douglasville, Georgia starting about 11:0'clock. We had a great time this past May and I'm sure we will have a great time in November. All money raised will go to the Shrines Hospital for Children. I hope to see you there.

You know Jerry, I thought that Tommy Dodd had an exclusive on moving around while playing steel, but I just saw the Joe Wright/Sarah Jory video from Australia, and Sarah can whip Tommy thumbs down in the body language department.

Jerry---If this one is any better than the one in May it will be AWESOME! Looks like a great line-up of pickers and I'm sure there will be more to come. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing Larry Sasser again, I've not seen him in a long time. See ya on Nov 3rd.

Jerry, do you still "mess around" with steel guitars or are you still playin the bass? If you can, and not to get too far off topic..please fill us in on what you have been doing since the Jim Ed years.

Pat, I do still own a steel guitar. I have an Emmons single 10, about a 1968 or 69 model. The one instrument I have that I would give anything to play like I want to. After being with the Jim Ed Brown group for seven years I left and went with the Kendalls for a short time, then on to be with Porter Wagoner for a couple of years, then ended up with Justin Tubb and worked with Lynn, Pete, Johnny, and Danny for about a year or so. I left Nashville in 1988 and moved back to my home town. Thanks for asking, it is good to hear from friends from those years.

I appreciate all the e-mails I have received about this event. We have added several more steel players to the program. I hope others will respond. We know we will have a great day of music. This is a great cause and it would be great to be able to give a big donation to the Shrines Hospitals for Children. Thanks to my pal Smiley for letting me know he will be coming down. Bobbe I am still looking for your name to appear.

Have a nice day.

We have some good talent that is going to be there. Larry Sasser and Smiley Roberts are going to be there along with a lot more musicians. We have about 17 steel player who have told us they will be there. Sorry you can't be one of them. Take care and stay in touch.

We had a picking good time this past Sunday. I must say that Larry Sasser played like the pro that he is. Larry has been back in the Atlanta area for a few years now but he still represents the Nashville Sounds in the best possible way, with his Emmons guitar. Smiley Roberts was on hand to lend his talents. He picked the Ray Price tune "A Way To Survive" just like it is suppose to be played. He played other tunes and did them well, but he sure did shine on that one. My best friend, Tim Atwood, came down and displayd his talents to all those in my area who didn't know who he was. You can bet they know now. My thanks to Bill Ferguson, Bill Nicholson, Tommy Dodd, Tim Hamilton, Bill Cunningham, Charlie Vaughn, Larry Moore and all the great supporting musicians that complimented each players style. The surrounding areas of Atlanta are still full of excellent musicians.

Thanks guys for being a part of this event to raise money for The Shiners Hospitals for Children.

Jerry...thanks for all the work the Shrine unit did to accomadate us yesterday. We all hope it was a huge success as a fund raiser. With all the Georgia steelers that we have, what's keeping us from having a local association? You've taken a very large step in getting us together for what we hope will be a long standing engagement, why not consider taking it to the next level? You've got my vote as founding father! Smiley was a hoot yesterday. He demonstrated his musical talent as well as his knack for comedy. He can take a joke as well as he can dish one out, too. And yes, Larry Sasser is still the cream of Nashville's crop, and now we get claim him as one of our own. Thanks again for a great day.

Jerry,
WHATTA BLAST!!! This was DEFINITELY a lotta fun,not to mention worthwhile! As I mentioned,I will do anything, within my power, to help the Shriner's hospital. I started helping them when I was a teen,& will continue to do so,until I'm too old to do so which, hopefully, won't be in the near future. Thanx, also, for for puttin' up w/ my nonsense on stage. If it helped to raise one more dollar for the fund,it was worth it. The "guys in the front row" sure got me,a good one! Also, thanx to you & your family, for puttin' me up Sunday night, and a special thanx to Sandra Kendrick,& her "family" for their extra special hospitality,Fri. & Sat. nite. The "Cowboy" is a KILLER" club,w/ a GREAT band. I wish NashVILE had a club like this. Got a chance to meet Tim Hamilton, the band's steeler. All I can say is "WOW!!" Tim,& the band,(sorry, don't know the band name) "ran the gamut",from trad. to "n.c.s.",w/ no problems. And talk about "honeys"....I almost got whiplash from checkin' 'em out.
(the girls in the club, not the band. )

But,I'm "wandering" from my original post, the Yaarab Shrines Entertainment Unit fund raiser. Whatta great bunch o'guys. I hope they do this EVERY year,to help raise $$$,$$$ for this worthy cause. If you'd like to help, send a check to the:

Thanks to Jerry Braswell and all the Shriners for a great time Sunday. I hope we raised a ton of money for the hospital. I appreciate you for asking me to play and for all you are doing to raise money for the hospital. Everyone played great and sounded so good.

My Thanks to you also Jerry, It was a pleasure to have a part in another "Day of Music" and I agree with Roger let's start somethin' in Atlanta. We do have some of the best steel pickers in the south...

Smiley I was one of the guys on the front row but the nose and the glasses came off at the same time.

I can't wait until the next one
