Kudos to SIB Electronics

A while back I bought a used SIB Mr. Echo (an analog-like delay that is the best analog-type sound I've heard...better than most pure analog units!) that turned out to be flood damaged (the logo was gone and it had been repainted and marker with a labelmaker when I got it) and poorly repaired. It finally just died. I contacted SIB, they asked me to send it in to be checked out. I was prepared for a hefty bill but I got it fairly inexpensively so decided it was worth it - anything close in sound would have cost me $200 or so.

Not a week later...yesterday...there's a box on my doorstep with a NEW Mr Echo AND my old box and knobs with a note saying "hope you like how it really sounds. Sent your box and hardware back in case you wanted to build something".

Obviously it's working perfectly, the "slam" switch is doing what is supposed to (a runaway echo momentary-switch effect...pretty fun, and NOT what it was doing when I got it) and I was flat stunned.

That's the kind of service that has pretty much disappeared nowadays. And smart business, because I guarantee I'll buy other SIB products.

Yup, SIB makes some pretty cool stuff. For octave fuzz, I really like the Nick Nitro, and the Varidrive is the benchmark for tube distortion pedals.
