My dad says Phoenix City was the fun capitol of America during WW2. He was a drill instructor at Fort Benning, which is by far the most beautuful base I've seen. I was astonished that a base could be like that.
Anyway, my dad likes Thumbs. He also introduced me to CW back in the 50s. |

Yes Darryl,Phenix City was a wild and wooley little town in the 40's and early 50's,They had the big cleanup in 52,It was called sin city USA,They made a movie about it cALLED THE pHENIX City Story.It was a small little town but had at least 40 or 50 clubs that were wide open 7 nights a week,lots of pickers had full time jobs and made good money,But that was over years ago,Now it's a nice little town that's nice to live in.Yes Fort Benning,which is just across the river from us is a beautiful base,played there for years at the NCO and officers clubs.DYKBC.

| All of that live music must have been heaven to him. Although he's never been one to go out drinking, he always liked to dance. He always had music going on the radio, and that's where I heard Billy Jack Wills--on KFBK in Sacramento. Vance Terry was the first steeler I heard. |

Darryl,If you like Vance Terry,you need to get the CD,Jimmy Rivers and the Cherokees[BRISBANE BOP]Jimmy and Vance,recorded live at the 23 club from 61 to 64,in Brisbane Cal.19 great tunes,GREEEEAT STUFF.on the Joaquin label.DYKBC.
