Who all is going to St. Louis?

Post by Nick Reed »

Well not me. . . .this year anyway. This will be our first missed convention in 9 years. The high gas prices have put a halt to us being able to make it this time. Besides, Linda has decided to go back to college and work on her degree. So I'm gonna take the money we'd spend going to St. Louis and put it toward her schooling. Also, I'm scheduled to work at the station labor day weekend. I'll really miss seeing you guys. Hope those of you going have a great time.

Nick,
We'll miss seeing you guys this year. If money gets tight, just sell me one of those beautiful Emmons you have hangin' around!

Being retired and not "independently wealthy" my wife and I will not be doing any traveling this summer and sadly that includes a trip to St Louis for the convention.

We are not in the "poor house", just the costs of traveling, including lodgings, are prohibitive for anything except a "must travel" situation.

Nick: Roy and I will miss you and your wife! We are also registered and airline tickets are gotten early at much cheaper prices! Walter, we can't wait to see you again. We just couldn't drive it anymore. Just to far. Best to you Nick and your wife. We hope to see you again soon. Hugs, Laurie

I think Scotty should set up a tour bus type
deal for the people that can't buy enough gas
for the trip !!
This is the first year I will not have to work
sense the 25th steel show. Now I can't afford
to buy the $1000. in gas. Obama will fix it
for next year.

I may go. I have a gig that weekend but I'm thinking about getting a sub. I guess I'd better book a hotel!

To all my fans, I've been invited back to play in the Derby room again this year. So both of you had better come. ;-)

I have my hotel reservations, but have not yet booked my flight.

Unfortunately I also have some major unexpected expenses to deal with including a broken water heater and car repairs, and I might have to cancel.

I missed last year but I do have my reservations and will definately be there. Also, I'm not wealthy but I'll be driving my little Buick Century that get's about 32 mpg so it might not be too bad. Mike, I hope you don't have to cancel I'll be bringing my old mandolin with me for you to check out!...JH in Va.

Cool Jerry. Here are pictures of my 2 Rigels,

And here is the infamous "Mandocellocaster" made from a Squire.

But since (if I come)I'm flying and will be bringing my steel (I'm scheduled to play at the talent search) I won't be bringing any other instruments.

Hey Jerry, when I do my thing on the talent search, I want you to be one of my backup singers. The "Mike-ettes."

This recent ridiculously high gas price increase has hit a lot of us hard. I really don't know if St. Louis will be in my plans this year.
The only thing better than doing what you love is having someone that loves you enough to let you do it.

Nick, I'm sorry to hear that you and Linda won't be going.

I'll definitely be there.
Jeff Strouse is driving up there with me, we have our rooms at the Drury right next door to The Millennium.

I'm looking forward to playing a set in the Hawaiian show with L.T. Zinn and Doug Smith on Friday - and I'll be at our vendors' table with Herb Remington all day Saturday.
So stop by and buy something - a CD, a DVD, or a Remington Steelmaster . .

It's gonna be fun ! !
