Standel, for regular music, VHT Pitbull Ultra Lead, for metal kinds of things, Metasonix F*cking F*cker, for the weird stuff. Yes that's the real name of it.

Exactly what I have, a Nashville 112 (with stock electronics). Others may have need for something else or are in the "must have tube" camp but for what I do the NV112 is ideal.

I've had a Session 500, NV400, NV1000, Randall 212 and some others and I have found what I've been looking for in my NV112.

Webb for me........although if weight was a consideration it'd be the 112. Guess I wouldn't buy the F*cking F*cker because of the name Embarassed

Nashville-112 is my 1st choice and if one is not enough, I use two! All you need to add to them is a Knob Guard to keep them well protected!!!!

My Revelation Preamp into the back of my NV1000 -- or maybe one of TC Furlongs new 15" powered cabs.

I also have, and still use on the big jobs a Peavey DPC750 based rack into 2 x Nashville 115E BW1501 speaker cabinets (also by Peavey).

Hello Ben,
Speaking of amps, you sold me my very first amp at your Fort Smith store back in early '74...it was a Peavey Classic (2 12's)...Kept it for about 15 years and traded it for another Peavey...a NV400--still using it...Peavey for me! Do you still have your Steel Guitar Collection that you had at the Fort Snith store? Please send me your mailing address...I'd like to send you something...Thanks, Carl

I got one of TC Furlong's powered Splits. Wow, is it nice. It sounds great and is incredibly light. All you older steelers (me included) reread those last two words. My NV400s weigh too much and I get tired of lugging them around. I'm using a borrowed Walker preamp with the Split until I get a REV. One of the nice things about the Walker is that it has a headphone out and a volume control for that. It'd be great if the REV had the same thing or, better yet, a More-Me type of headphone monitor section. That is, the studio monitor send could be input into the REV but you would be able to adjust your instrument's volume to your taste. As it is so often now, you live with what the engineer determines to be a good mix.

$5000, and that's just the head, no speaker cab.

I'd like to try an NAT Audio Magna. It's a 160-watt all tube amp, made in Japan. Weird looking as hell, but...at slightly under $ixty thou$and dollar$, you could sure look down your nose at all those who use those cheap ol' Bogner Uberschall, Standel, Hi-Watt, and Dr. Z tube amps! Winking

I'd have an amp built. Stereo, a head with both sections being very close to an early Supro Thunderbolt (with a tube rectifier), except with KT90 output tubes, still class A push pull and two 1-15 cabs loaded with JBL E-130's. I may try this one actually, I'm looking for a person to bend the chassis now.

Black Box--> Walker Stereo --> Lexicon MX 300--> two 1501's..........so far, so good!

The amp and processor are in a lightweight powered ABS plastic rack with wheels and pull out handle (38 lbs).....the speakers are 30 lbs each.

I'm considering Neo magnets for the 1501's to knock off another 5-6 lbs off each cab.

A re-issue type Session 500 with lighter weight. I have used Peavey's since the first Session 400. I have 4 Peaveys at this time. For Ben Jack : What happened to the all the things you had in your Museum in Ft. Smith? Jody.

I've been using a Fender Steel King for over two years and it's been a great amp.

I wish they would tame the treble end down a little as I have always felt it was a little too bright.

Dick you put a BW in that steel king? I did mine and its less shrill.

I would get one of those 35lb Evens, and Revelation tube amp + rack effects with orange and green ostrich skin dual 15inch speaker cabs!

and my BJS would have a laser pointer in it instead of a gemstone. Id be my own light show!

Post  Posted 6 Jun 2008 9:34 am     My steel collection??

For those of you who asked about my collection. I sold them to John Burkhead from Dallas and his intentions to me was that he would keep them all together in some sort of museum or ?? It turned out that he was a crook[ even though I got my money] for several years the steels couldn't be found and the company John worked for couldn't find him or the guitars. Since then I have had reports that some of them have turned up in differant parts of the country but no one seems to know how all this went down and to this day some of the more important ones havn't turned up, there were over 300 in the collection.
Thanks for your concern, Ben

Thanks Ben Jack for the info. Years ago I owned a good bit of property around Clarksville, Ark. and when I was up there, I always visited your museum in Fort Smith and visited with my old pal Bob White. Jody.
