Ga Steel Guitar Assoc. Summer Peach Jam
We are all gearing up for our summer show. We are honored to have Mike "Cookie" Jones as our headliner, plus the great Russell Hicks will be joining us.
Oh yes, many of you remember a srawney little kid 10 years ago that I took on stage with me at the Atlanta Steel Guitar Extravanza. He had owned a steel 6 months then. Well he is now 20 and stands over 6' tall and all I can say is WOW. Jonathan Cullifer will be performing on the show.
In a few days, I will post a schedule of players.
Date: June 29, 2008
Place: Shrine Temple
400 Ponce de Leon Ave
Atlanta, GA

Bill,
It's going to be another great show!!
I'm glad that Country River Band will be there for your set - you know how much I like to hear Tim sing!!! And, you're not bad on steel, either!!

Hey Bill
Bill Ferguson:
I meant to mention on the Saluda Show thread that I was impressed with your part in the program. I had heard you on some of the YouTube videos, but you and that Emmons sounded good as any player that I have ever heard at Saluda. The youtube video of yours pushed me to buy that new steel that I have. I just thought if I could ever play notes that sounded anywhere near that sweet, then it would be worth the investment.
I definitely want to make this show if I can.
I am gonna come and bug Johnny and Woody about getting them to give me guitar lessons again. Those men can PLAY!

You're right, David - Bill is a good player for sure!
What amazes me about Johnny and Woody is the EASE in which they play. How do they do that????? Also, their wives are always with them - great supporters and Great ladies!!!

Good Show
I don't know all the names listed for the show, but just the ones that I do know is enough for me to come.
Sounds like a lot of good music, to say the least.[/code]

Thanks for the compliments David. I don't get my 93 Emmons out very often, but when I do I love it.
The Carter that I have now has a lot of Emmons characteristics in the sound, but different to sound like a Carter.
They are both great guitars. Now maybe someday, I will learn to pick these darn things.
Hope to see you in 2 weeks.

New Addition
There is a young (16) new steel player in Toccoa, GA. He started learning the steel guitar 2 years ago.
Well I invited him to come and set up with me at our club gig. He did this for 4 nights.
Well, nothing else to say, but now I have invited him (and he accepted) to join me on the stage at the GaGSA Peach Jam on June 29.
His name is Austin Tripp and all I can say is "lookout"!!!!

Austin
Hey Bill, I have played in SC with Austin before, and he is impressive, to say the least. I couldn't believe that he was only 15 years old and playing like that.
