Jerry Byrd...A Beautiful Song.

Post by John McGlothlin »

I stumbled across this one today and I wanted to share it of course I'm sure a lot of ya have already seen it. This really shows that the non-pedal steel can produce pure magic music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXEP5DFD ... re=related

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH
Touch and tone and melody. Where has all that gone.
Top drawer, first rate , of the first water.
Does that that make you stop, relax and listen, or what ?.
Subtle use of the volume pedal too !
Magic.

Great song by a great group. Jerry was a one-of-a-kind in all aspects.
I miss my March 9th birthday call to him and the visits. Great guy, very modest and hmble. He did cuss a little, though..................funny individual.

Sand is one of my favorite Hawaiian tunes, played by my favorite player.

I have a letter Jerry sent to me (on blue stationary) framed and hanging on my music room wall.

It's good to have a little grit in your tone

And stop all that BS about your playing, Keoki. There ain't a soul around that wouldn't like to sound like you do on your worst day!
