My song posted "Laura"
Ron Scott-I heard your "She thinks I still care" Very nice E9, one of the good old songs.
Shorty Smith-Just heard your "Storms Never Last" and your picking good on it. You did a nice faster shuffle out of it.
I just had my new song for March posted by Tilley. It is a song by Johnny Green "Laura" from the movie "Laura" from around 1950. Luckily, I can still remember these old tunes from long ago.
I made a Transcription of it in 1950. Lost that. Then did a few songs on Home Video for my friend Ray Byrd in Florida in 1991 with my old Super-Pro and old 40 watt Crate amp. Please excuse the mistakes as they were all on one take.
I am trying to hear more of these fine recording when I have the time, Thanks again to Charles Tilley....al.:)

Hi Jim, Thanks for you kind comments to this old guy. You just made my Day! I guess that I am just plain lucky at my age to remember all thos old standards that I loved so much.
I played" Laura" on my old Sho-Bud Super Pro D10. E6 tuning on the back neck. All I did was change the strings and all the pedals and knee levers worked just like on C6.
I made a video in 1991 while in Florida,of quite a few tunes and did them all live on one take, mistakes and all.LOL. Some of them my friend Fred Welch converted over to CD and gave it to me. That was nice of him. He called it "A Few of the Good old songs". Here is what is on it all from the same Video.
Memories of you
Don't blame Me
Unforgettable
Laura
Once in Awhile
Stardust
Tea for Two
Mood Indigo
Blue Hawaii
Thanks to Charles Tilley for this site...al.:)

Tilley just posted my song for April
Tilley just posted my song for April, "Tea For Two". I use 4 picks on this, Reece got me to do this. But sometimes I use 3 picks too.I took this off a home recording tape I made in 1991 when I was spending the winter in Florida. I used my Sho-Bud Super Pro D10. E6 tuning on the bottom neck.
Thanks to Charles Tilley, we can have fun doing this and I get to hear some great recordings by some fine players.....al.:)

Tea for Two
Gene-Knowing your Musical background, I am sure you did a great job playing on those package tours. But thanks for the kind comments, I appreciate it.
John-Thank you. I do like those old standard tunes with the nice chords. "Tea for Two" was one of a bunch of tunes that I made a Video of in 1991 on my home Video camera. So I have pictures showing me pushing the pedals Etc. Maybe , I might be able to put one up on YouTube....al.:):)

Vernon Hester-I just heard your song and reminds me of the great Jerry Byrd, I really like that song. I started on steel playing Hawaiian tunes at first in 1936.You did a very nice job on that Ricky. The only difference in your sound was Jerry's has a liitle more bass and mellow sound.
John McGlothlin-I just heard your Orange Blossom Special. Nice tone and chords and good picking. I gave up fast picking on that one. I want to thank Charles Tilley for his Website where we can hear our Forum members play thier steels....al.:)

song for May
Charles Tilley has just put my song for May on his Website. Thanks again Tilley. It is from a home practice tape I made in the 90's on a old Sho-Bud D10 on C6. I haven't ever been satisfied with the quality and playing on these old tapes.
Tommy Dorsey's Theme Song, "I'm Getting Sentimental over You".
C6 was on the guitar and I didnt change it to my E6, which I like better as I am more familiar with it, and I think has a brighter sound.
My friend Fred Welch may bring his Boss 1200 Digital Multi-Track Recorder and record me on somthing more current with BIAB, While I can still remember how to play all these old Pop,Jazz standards.
.......LOL....al.:):)

18 month progress
Thanks Tilley for putting my song up today. I really enjoy listening to others on this site and aspire to play as well as some here one day! This is my year and a half progress; any specific feedback on what to keep up and what to work on is appreciated. May want to e-mail rather than fill up the thread.

I listened to your song Al and that Sho-Bud sure does have a great and smooth sound to it and I love that fantastic chord work you do on that C6th tuning. Charles has posted my new song...this was my first try at this song, I played it for one of our cats we lost last month his name was Teger. The song is called "Cavatina".
