Bobby Garrett: Musicians Hall of Fame

Post by Jody Sanders »

Bobby Garrett has just been inducted in to the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville. Bobby was one of the greatest steel players of our time. Very deserving. I wish he was still with us to enjoy it. Jody.

Hi Dean, Good to see you are still out there. As soon as the pictures arrive from the Hall of Fame, Rick Garrett will post them on the forum. Have a good one. Jody.

This is just great. Thanks Jody for letting us all know about this. Bobby was a dear friend. We spent alot of time playing together on shows or just jamin' somewhere. He was what I call a"Master" player. What a fun person to be around also. I miss him so and his wonderful smile. Bobby

Hey Jody that great. I just got back in town. The Musician HOF was one of the few things we did not get to do on our trip. I guess that's ok now I can see Bobby's stuff when I get to go.

I understand that Bobby Garrett played with Hank Thompson and Jim Reeves. How long did he stay with Hank?

I have a tune called "Shrimpsky" by Bobby that I got on a variety tape from Tom Bradshaw years ago. It has to be one of the most smokin' hot pedal steel instrumentals I've ever heard.

Ken, Bobby worked with Hank on two different occassion. Probably a total of six years. Bobby composed the song "Shrimpsey" while playing for Tony Douglas and the Shrimpers. Jody.

Thanks Jody. I have a few of his early tunes with Hank, including Rose City Chimes - great picking.
