Anyone know the standard height from the floor to the bottom appron on the a 1972 Emmons D-10 fatback? Mine mesures 25.75. I'm thinking mine is an inch lower than normal. I am thinking about a liftkit but not sure if I should go 1" or I'm thinking I need to get the 2". Thanks for any help. Been doing too much'thinking'. |

Kenny - I don't know how tall you are. I'm 5 ft 11. One of my steels was built for a small guy - was only 24 inches from floor to apron and I really struggled to get under it. I had to use a really low seat and wear no shoe on my volume pedal foot. I got 2 inch extenders to take it to 26 inches and I find that fine for me so one inch may be good enough for you unless you're taller than average.

Kenny,
I think most standard Emmons legs measure about 26 1/2" overall (not including the threads). I hope that helps.

Thats a great question. Is there a standard height for pedal steels? I feel like I'm playing a toy (starter) after getting my Thomas. It feels too tall. Is there a standard height? _________________ Derby SD-10 4&5 Black!(duh)/

How much clearence do most of you have on your right or volume pedal leg? I got my steel sitting on blocks and 2 inch raise seems to be what I need. Who ever this Emmons was made for must have been pretty short!! |
