Sorry about your injury. If it's your bar hand, you can get something like this http://www.mouthstick.net/mouthstc/mbromain.htm and attach the bar to the end.

Well AFB, WHan I was in the AF I broke my right wrist.

I asked around, and the type of break that it was wasn't going to "go anywhere" and was probably healed mostly in the first day after.

I took the full arm cast off splitting it the full way, and put it back after I'd play wrapping it with an ace bandage.

It was in the military, so I had to hide it, or if found out they would have had me put in and it rebroken..

Where there's a will....

I'm going to be out of lugging stuff around for about that long after Thursday's date with the chainsaw, but I've been playing more tele anyhow..

Good luck, and best wishes.

Smile

In the early 70's road a little motocross, had a spill on my bike, broke the thumb on my left hand, was playing guitar several nights a week.would slid the cast off to play,[could move my fingers fine, but could not even touch the thumb it hurt so bad]When it did heal, left a knot on my hand above the thumb.it's still there.I was so stupid not letting it heal right. My music meant more than the bike racing, sold all four of my bikes, have'nt been on one since.DYKBC.

I'd like to say I was attacked by a bear; it would make a good story; but, in reality I was pruning an avocado tree when I tripped and fell across the rockery. Embarassed Embarassed

Alan, sorry to hear about the incident. I can only suggest you get hold of one of Joe Wright's technique videos (for the hand that works) and do the drills for five weeks. It's tedious work but the avocado tree will respect you thenceforth.

well ok then, Alan, sorry to hear of your dilemma. Does your RIGHT hand still work ?

IF it does, sit down and practice right hand technique in the open position, pick across the grips for 5 minutes a day. If you are up for it, work in some new Bluegrass phrases off of the top strings. Those phrases are all about right hand technique anyway.

A wrist sprain can be pretty painful. Maybe 5 weeks off is not a bad thing.

I see a TV remote control in your future...

Don't forget the Chips and Beer..

Am I allowed to say Beer on this forum ?

Hope you heal soon.

if you trust your wife she could sit next to you and operate your bar for you.But then if she is like my wife she would put the bar a frett or 2 off just for spite, maybe not a good idea after all.On the serious side get well soon!

As the old joke goes...

"Doctor, Doctor, will I be able to play the fiddle when my arm heals ?"

"...of course you will, son."

"Great, Doc, I never could before..."

I was tempted to play "The Wreck of Old 97" on the Dobro last night, but it hurt so I gave up the attempt after a couple of verses. Crying or Very sad
