Have just posted a 'music-room video' of my arrangement of Billy Strayhorn's 'Lush Life' over at www.SteelGuitarJazz.com . This is the song that I played as Mystery Jazz Steeler #9 a week or two ago, but now on video so you can see the positions, etc.

Jim-Great interpretation of a great jazz tune. You are amazing me with your great jazz style . You are the tops.
I remember when we (tunetoppers) were the house band at the Gaiety club in Northern Michigan and they had Duke Ellington in for about 3 hours one night.during one of his intermissions Lorraine and I were at the bar and talking to him, and telling him that I played a lot of his songs, like "Sophisticated Lady","Mood Indigo", "take the A train", and more.
He put his arms around both of us and gave us a big hug. I had the music store then and was teaching and playing.
He was the nicest guy. He carried extra musicians in the bus just to give them work and they would come in and replace a few horns during the night to give them a break.
There were many big bands that came to the club, back in those days. I really enjoyed those years. Duke had a great band then in the 50's...al.

Thanks guys. Al M. thanks for sharing that story about the Duke; great story.
David D. thanks for your remark comparing my sound with that of Bill Stafford, whom I admire much. I must say, though, that I think of our 'jazz tones' as being quite different; I'd say Bill goes for a darker, rounder, jazz-guitar-like tone compared to mine, wouldn't you say?

| Jim ,I enjoyed scrolling down all the songs. Your an amazing versitle player..I in particular enjoyed Lush.. I can just picture you doing Misty with three Tempo changes..I'd buy that..Made me think of a 19 year old visiting New York and finding Birdland..(also first taste of Alcohol) The Steel Guitar in your hands shows what a broad future it could have and should have in many Genres..I'm truly a fan of Jim Cohen. |

Very good performance, and harmonies.
Your video sounds just like my videos, with the wind noice and all those cracklings.
Is it live?, do you have a built-in mic on your camera?.

| Thanks, gents. Dean, after trying several, I finally settled on the Tonealigner pickups, for both necks. It was a close call, though; not a dramatic difference. Abdel, yes, it was live in my music room, using the video camera's built-in mic. |
