Bill Hankey said;
Does your mother have tattoos all over her arm?
What does that have to do with anything? Your mother might be a gossip and backbiter, but not have any tattoos. So what? What does that have to do with being an entertainer or trying to be an American Idol?

I agree that it has a lot to do with looks. I wasn't picking anyone over the other. I don't believe there's anything in the rules that bar anyone with a green card from entering and participating. Being born here, even though you had nothing to do with it, makes you special?

Bill Hankey is another universe.

Until many mothers have tattoos then the visual perception of a woman with a "sailors arm" will be what it is. It has everything to do with being chosen by the public in the Idol process.

The rules of American Idol are their own rules. They don't resonate with me. Being an American is special. You want an "American" idol who got on a boat and came over here a couple of years ago to be on this show...come on. Maybe they should have "Green Card/Illegal" Idol. You know they do have a time limit for being in the country before you can be on Idol. That girl was disqualified last year when she tried to get on. She did not have her papers when she auditioned. American Idol should be for American born kids, but since it is a money making scam it will accept just about any one...as long as they meet the vaulted Idol rules as meager as they are for the nationality of a contestant.

My thoughts;

I really like Carly in spite of her tattoos. I will not judge her at all for having them but when she went sleeveless I couldn't help but keep seeing it. To me it just distracted from her appearance. She has gorgeous eyes but I kept looking at that tattoo. I wish she had made it through.

Jason, sorry, I just can't get into him at all. He should be gone.

David A, he is an awesome singer and I enjoy watching him every week.

David C, very good at what he does but I don't get the constant accilades by the judges. Does nothing for me.

Syesha, very, very talented and I think she will be a star in acting or singing someday.

Brooke, I really like her as well. Out of all of them I think I would enjoy her record the most. I like her voice and her semi-county vibe. I love her personality as well.

Just my 2 cents. I am really going to miss the show when it is over. It is fun to watch and I look forward to it every week.

Sorry Bill, wrong Bill. :)

What about kids born out of the country from American-born parents who were on vacation at the time of the birth? Would they qualify? They're Americans too, right?

What about someone whose parents immigrated here when they were a month old, and they've spent their whole life here, are they out too? (They're not running for president.)

What about an illegal mother who has a baby here...making it an American? They would qualify, but the other wouldn't? (And they COULD run for president.)

Just wonderin'

I am talking about this girl and she does not fall under any of the catagories you noted.

Sadly for Brooke she is not in the lower two anymore :(

In my view , other than the Jason dreadlock dude, Brooke really has not been the better singer, she got kinda boring. Her performances as of late have not really shown that she can sell a kazillion records. She is really just a middle of the road Coffee house kinda singer.

The Jason goof really needs to get voted off, but evidently there must be a few million 12 year olds voting for him.

Surprisingly, I think the Syeesha gal has been singing pretty good and she just may be the sleeper here.

I agree, Tony. As much as I like the "Two Davids," that would be refreshing. :)

Brooke had a good following, but I agree that her singing didn't really measure up to the others.

I've loved Syesha from the beginning. Her vocals and stage presence are already STAR quality.
(OK, this is a GIRL thing - but I didn't like her hair parted down the middle and straight. Tommy did, though. She is just so adorable with it short, big, and curly :))

Jason should be long-gone, but I agree with Tony that there are millions of 12 year old girls out there who love him - I can just imagine some of the younger ones hitting the redial on their Hello Kitty cell phones until they have to go to school the next morning.

I agree that Jason is adorable. I even like his vocal style, and believe that some record company is going to scoop him up. They'd be crazy not to!!

That said, Jason SHOULD be next to go home. But, of course, he won't be.

I would prefer that David Cook be next, myself.
And then Jason.
And then Sheysha be first runner up to David A being our next American Idol.

Donna,
I agree David A. will be the next American Idol.

Syesha has grown so much than when she started. I'm liking her more every week. :)

Oh yeah, Paula was funny Tuesday night. :)

David A. is wearing on me big time, with his squinty smile and "gee whiz!" attitude. The kid obviously has a good technical singing voice, but after awhile there's a sameness to it - and Simon congratulated him on the smart move in singing the America song the other night, but the boy doesn't have any of that grit or growl in his voice the way Neil Diamond actually sings it. I can see David A. getting a gig singing on Main Street USA at Disneyland...

I liked Brooke for her Carol King vibe when she's at the piano, but her version of I'm A Believer was ridiculous.

Syesha - she'll do great on Broadway, but I just don't see people forking out serious money to go to her concerts like they have for Carrie Underwood.

Jason, the dreadlocks kid - the only reason he's still around is that the ladies like his eyes and his laid back demeanor.

David Cook is the only one that I would pay any money to go see (but the tickets would have to be pretty reasonable), if he had a really good band with him. He's the only one that did any justice to those Neil Diamond songs. He sings with some soul.

I'm sorry I didn't vote for Michael Johns. :(
Carly lost because of her tatoo's. :(

I'm still voting for David A. David Cook sounds to much like Chris Daltry. Nothing new....

Contrived From The Get Go

Post by Peter Dollard »

Most of the people who get to the final ten will have already won in that they have got enough publicity for twenty life times. The sadly tatooed lady deserved better; she had the most powerful voice of any woman there and I have no doubt will get a record deal.

The New York Times has a really interesting article about how doctored up the whole show is. Complete with the lovely fawning girls of the front row who are recruited from college sororities in the LA area. Many times the guest stars have already performed their songs on video tape and everyone in the theater is just watching them like us! Apparently there is a goon squad of security people who follow the contestants around, muscular dull normals with crew cuts, making sure nothing untoward happens.

Here is something to think about. The first auditions are done at the city stadiums with the hopefuls sitting around picnic tables. Each one gets to sing for twenty seconds. While you cannot totally evaluate a person you can kind of tell whether they can sing at all. So how do all those awful people get to the second level, the three panel judge level? they are picked to mix in with the people who can sing. So now singing badly might actually get you in front of the panel go figure.....

Jason reminds me of "ME" when I was like 12 or 13!
Definitely time for him to pack his bags ! His songs last night were pretty lame. I'm amazed he got this far.

Yeah, David's "Deer in the headlights" look is getting kind of old. He needs to go. Syeesha (sp) has it all over Cook in my opinion. He's trying to be cool. You're either cool or your not. He's not. My opinion, of course. :)

He's still a teenager. It's a rare, innocent look that's hardly seen on teens today.

I love his innocence and shyness. But more than anything, I love his voice!!!

David A will be the next "American Idol" I have believed this right from the beginning. I just think that he is young enough to work hard and accomplish everything that he sets out to do.I just hope that someone coaches him a little more on how to speak to an audience, and keep his eyes open while singing.
These kids were all terrific! :D :D
