Your age indicates the thoughts you have when someone tells you: "We play old country...you know Merle and Conway".

The Poll

Post by Del Bonn »

Bob, of course I'm not devulging my age.......but I must admit, it appears that so far I am the eldest.
I will say that I started playing a steel guitar when I graduated from high school in 1942....Oh WHERE have 66 years gone!.....but that's a whole other poll.
My all-time favourite melody? A little old Scottish tune, "In the Gloaming,".....but that, too, is a whole other poll.
OK,now all you youngsters...remember to show respect

It only makes sense that most of us here would be from the 50's. Just think of all the greats we grew up listening to, and now are still trying to emulate. I think it is the greatest tribute we could pay all of the great steelrs of the 50's and 60's. Imitation, emultion or whatever you want to call it is the greatest form of flattery. My concern is where will steel and pedal steel be in 30 years??

I suspect that if anyone runs this survey again in 30 years they'll come up with about the same figures, but adding 30 years onto the dates.
