I sat in the front row at a PSGA show one year when Jimmy played and was too awe struck to even introduce myself. I had no idea he was so tall and you had to see him in person to feel and see the aura that he had. I listen to his tracks on the Ray Price sings Bob Wills album a few times each year and it purity of his playing never wears thin. It would be great if some of the guys who taped him at some of the informal club gigs could post some of those. I used to have some bootleg tapes of Ray Price at a practice session and the impromtu riffs were just awesome. Don't know what happened to those bu thet were reel to reel and the tape deck was sitting on the steel players amp. One thing that stood out was all the back up rhythm vamps and harmonics that you don't always hear on the records.

Tommy,
I would love to see some more Jimmy Day videos myself. I recently discovered a Ray Price DVD with Jimmy Day playing.

When I first came upon Steel Guitar Forum I found a clip on youtube with Jimmy Day and Buddy Spiker backing up Ray Price. It's no longer posted but would love to see that paticular clip again!

Winnie Winston had a really great tribute page to Jimmy Day on his site. Best of all are the live sound clips toward the bottom of the page. This is some of the most beautiful, soulful playing I've ever heard from any steel player anytime. If you have never been there do it now.
