New to the forum
My name is Steve and just wanted to say hello from a new forum member and steel guitar learner. I have an old Sho-Bud Crossover and a GFI Ultra. This site has been an awesome resource. I live in New Mexico and the steelers are few and far between but rest assured I'll have questions for yall.

Enjoy
I just joined the board over a month or so ago and I'm am amazed at the kind of brotherhood (sorry..haven't met a sister yet) this forum has. I belong to many other guitar/bass/mando/dobro forums and there is NOTHING like this board.
I've gotten so much unsolicited help and a ton of issues. I've bought everything from forum mates and have made some friends. Usually, if you are a beginner, no one wants anything to do with you. Just the opposite here.
It's very heartening to know that in this typically callous world there's a place to go and hear people talk to each other with respect, reverence and joy.
Enjoy, Steve. Enjoy

A welcome to you two also Brian and Steve. In regards to Brians "It's very heartening to know that in this typically callous world there's a place to go and hear people talk to each other with respect, reverence and joy." Never thought of it this way but, do you thing that the folks who play steel guitar have more in common than the love of the instrument?

Steve, you might want to attend the big jam in Albuquerque NM. on Saturday Aug. 2nd.
Hosted by Mike Castleberry. Here is Mike's website giving all the info needed to attend the jam.
www.mikessteelguitar.com I'll be doing a Question & Answer session for beginners on that day, hope you can make it.

Steve - Frenchy is still in business, in Belen. I received an email from him just this morning. He said he has not "assumed room temperature" yet and has no plans to do so for quite some time. You need to contact him and get one of his catalogs. It's huge and full of all kinds of great steel guitar related stuff.

Steve, welcome to the best place for anyone who loves steel guitar. I live in Portales, to the south and east of Raton. Many moons ago the band I was with played at Pistol & Annie's night club around there. I believe that it was called Annie Get Your Gun or something close to that. Does that venue still exist? We had some fun times around there, and that's some beautiful country that you live in. Best wishes, John
