Need player for gig Sept 8 in Nor. California
Hi All,
My band, Swift Kick, is playing after the Brooks & Dunn show on Sept. 8th at Konocti Harbor Resort in Kelseyville CA. and I'm looking for either a pedal steel player or a fiddle player who can play with us cold, no rehearsals.
We're doing about half country (mostly newer) and the other half country rock/honkytonk. It'll be a fun show.
It's 9pm-1:30am and I can pay $75 and a shared room at the resort.
Brooks & Dunn will sell out a 5000 seater so it should be a big show. I have set lists available.
If anyone is interested or knows of anyone please email me.
Thanks
Jay Johnson

"Star" artists pay $1000.00 per gig ($1K) for a steel man. I am seeking no employment of any kind, but it's a shame to go to all the trouble you do: all the years it took to "get good," travel to gig; set up; play; tolerate the audience (in some cases); pack up travel or get a hotel! Wow! Garbage collectors make more! If I were in that position, I'd get something on the side and play only when one could afford me. HJ

This gig is Sunday night, after the concert. I think it's more like your typical casino gig. The money is about right, IMHO.
I'd do it if it wasn't Sunday. That's just too late for me - I crash early on Sunday.

I don't think we took up this instrument for the big bucks we planned to make but for the sheer love of this very selfish, possessive man-made four-legged Rube Goldberg contraption that has competed for the honor in causing more divorces than Jim Beam. Seventy five is more money than staying home for nothing and watching TV Land.

I wasn't making $75 per gig in 1977. It was more like $40 for local gigs.
$75 plus lodging isn't bad for this part of the country. It's about par. I'd do it if I didn't have to go to work on Monday.
Find anyone yet, Jay?

I think I've decided to do this one myself. I did get a couple responses but I do understand that it's not much money. It just means that I have to work that much harder switching between my tele and the pedal steel along with singing lead and backups. I can do it but it's a lot of work.
Hey, all you high rollers out there. If you need a lead guitar/pedal steel/trumpet player/singer, I'll take all the $1000 gigs you can send my way.
Thanks
Jay
