Our 3rd Annual Marshfield Steel Guitar Show will be held on Saturday June 7th, 2008. The show will be held from 10:00 until about 8:00 p.m. at the Jubilee Theater at Marshfield, MO.

This is our 3rd year and this year we have several things planned to make it a really special event. I realize it is alittle early, but we have alot of work to do and it takes a bunch of time to promote and put together a show such as this. As mentioned it is really special, this year our honored and special guests are Mr. Russ Hicks from Nashville, TN and Mr. DeWitt Scotty Scott from the world's oldest and biggest steel guitar show, the St. Louis International Steel Guitar Show.

I have been trying to get Mr. Scotty here for three years but he was booked one year in Ohio and last year in Canada with Mr. Doug Jernigan. It is a real honor to have Scotty come play for us! He is one of the living members of the coveted Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. He plays like Jerry Byrd and was probably as close a friend to Jerry Byrd as anyone I ever knew. What a thrill of a lifetime When I met Jerry once at Scotty's show and have been a Jerry Byrd fan since I was a kid. So again it is a great honor that we get Scotty this year!

Next, I been a Russ Hicks fan since the 70s when I first heard him and the late great Jimmy Crawford burning up their steels on a twin steel classic L.P. titled "Chicken Pickin' Good." Next, I saw him with World Harmonica Player Charley McCoy when they brought the Hammons Field House of 15,000 down in Springfield, MO. Russ Hicks can play it all on steel guitar, and he is one of the most gracious steel players I've ever met. I plan to try and steel a few of his licks. Russ will also be teaching and lecturer a two-hour seminar for those interested that morning.

Next, we already have many other great steel players coming from other states: Jerry Roller from AR, Dennis Detweiler from IA, two great MO Steel Players always thrill us are Mike McGhee and probably my buddy Scotty Henderson. Mr. Jame Sentlinger is going to play an early performance on Hawaiian lap steel. He hails from California and recently transplanted to MO. He's been to my house and he plays great Hawaiian and traditional country on non-pedal steel.

There are alot more players coming too. As you can already tell, I am really excited about this year's show and hope that you all can make it.

We do charge a door cover charge because it is the only way we can fund it. I don't have a steel club here at Marshfield. It's well worth your time and a few dollars if you want a whole days great steel playing, fun and fellowship. It's just about like your Class Reunion with your Sweet Heart!

More as the days roll right along. It's only a few weeks away. Again want to invite and welcome you and your families. This is a family show that you can tell mom about and bring her too! Winking

May GOD bless!

Terry, I hope you invite me to play. Sorry I could not make last year's show. If you don't invite me I will have to take you to the OFFICE and give you a good paddling with a cedar paddle the boys made in shop class at Conway.

Great news! I just recieved a confirmation that Mr. Rob Parker is joining us on June 7th, 2008 at the 3rd Annual Marshfield Steel Show.

Rob is always a favorite with our show and all the others he attends. We all love his fine vocals and I myself particularly enjoy his Thumbstyle Travis Steel Pickin'. There are few steel players who can play this style. The late Bobby Garrett, my friend Bobby Chatfield, the great Bobbe Seymour, and I've heard Mr. Buddy Emmons do some thumbstyle and Mr. Rob Parker.

Welcome aboard Rob!

Just got the word this morning that Mr. Jimmy Burrell will be joining us on this year's show. Jimmy is a great Western Swing and Country steel player.

He spent many years working the up and down the west coast and he also has been inducted into two different Western Swing Hall of Fames. He's one of my favorite people, and I am proud to call him friend.

Curtis Williams is joining us on part of this year's Marshfield Annual Steel show as well.

Mr. Curtis is a Western Swing Hall of Famer and former Baldknobber Show of Branson player of 13 years. He is a great Western Swing Guitarist. I recorded 5 tunes with him a few months ago and I was amazed at his versatility. He loves the Steel Guitar too. Winking

Thanks Curtis!

I want to mention that Terry has one of the best staff drummers in the country. Wayne can play shuffle tunes. I've found many drummers on these steel shows don't know how to play a Texas 4/4 shuffle, they try to make it a swing. Bless their hearts.

Great news got the word over the weekend and confirmation that Jack Musgrave will be joining us on Saturday June 7th for 3rd Annual Show.

Jack is a great player, one of my favorites. Last year he played his vintage Lloyd Green Sho-Bud and played one of the best versions of the Beatles classic song titled "Yesterday," that I have ever heard. I just wished he'd donate me that LDG model. Winking

Yes Keith, your right about Wayne Florang he is one of the best drummers and that's why we get him on the show ever year.

Again want to invite everyone to a great day of steel guitar artistry on June 7th Marshfield, MO.

Thanks and GOD bless!

We are going to be having another honored guest this year at our show, Mr. Doc Martin plans on attending.

Doc was one of the regular steel guitarists on the original Ozark Jubilee Television Show during the 1950s, when they were broadcast all over the USA.

Welcome aboard Doc!

GOD bless!

Wow Terry, I really look forward to meeting Doc Martin. He put my first pedal on a Fender D8 back in the late 50's after I heard Bud Issacs on "Slowly" and "The Waltz You Saved For Me".

Terry, is Doc Martin the same guy who had a pawn shop in downtown Springfield in the '60's? If so, I bought a fender deluxe amp from him in the mid-60's which has appreciated a bit in the last 40 years.

Hi Dan,

I am not certain about the pawn shop. I will have to ask him.

He played alot on the Ozark Jubilee and with the late Junior "Speedy" Hayworth and Slim Wilson Show. I think he was the steel player who replaced Speedy West after Speedy left for California during the 1940s.

Trivia, for those who might not know Speedy West got his nickname Speedy from Slim Wilson. Speedy West's real name was Wesley Webb West. He told me that later even his mother called him Speedy.

Thanks and GOD bless!

We have a couple more who have now been confirmed to this year's Marshfield show. Mr. Larry Baker will be playing steel with Jean DeVore. She is a great vocalist and the people really enjoy hearing her. Welcome aboard Larry and Jean!

I also talked with Mr. Russ Hicks over the weekend at the Southern IL Steel Show and Russ has a great Steel seminar planned for the morning of June 7th.
Russ is such a great steel player and super nice person. I have been a fan of Russ Hicks since the 1970s. You won't want to miss hearing him and getting in on the teaching seminar.

All the steel players at the IL show sounded really great! This was my first time to go there to the IL Steel Show. I was invited by BMI Steel Guitars to help represent their lineup. I really enjoyed it.

THanks and hope to see you all on June 7th.

GOD bless!

If interested in the Russ Hick's seminar on June 7th at the 3rd Annual Marshfield Steel Show please contact me and let me know.

We need to know how many to expect for his teaching and sharing. Russ is a super picker and anyone interested in learning more steel should take this seminar. I plan on getting in on it.

Here is your chance to learn one on one from a Master player and teacher.

Terry, I am really looking forward to the Show. Had to miss Siloam Springs. I have been in the hospital. Almost bled out with a colon problem. I am home getting stronger every day, and still working. I have a new little guitar with some new changes.
