AND HERE"S JODY,,,,,,,,lemme hear that band,,c;mon louder,,Hey Drummer man,,hold that beat,,,,these guys are rushing the tempo.

What I read here,,I can only say,,Bob Maickel
has been my friend for over 56 years,,we literally grew up together,,hell,he even got his first Fender guitar from me.

Do ya'll spect me to sit here without sayin a piece or two??? Naw,,,that wouldnt be me..
So,,,Bob read something that he felt was an insult to his PSGA club,,OK so what. He sounded off,,is he the first one who ever did that? Is he the only one who has voiced
an opinion and let off steam?

I have seen posts on here that have left me cold,,some arrogant,,,ignorance,,some self centered individuals with nothing else to do but post insignificant things and all of the above.

I have seen people "gang" up on a Forum member,,one time someone was so angry at another Forum member,,,he posted "I HOPE YOUR DOG DIES" now how does this person know the other guy has a dog? If he has no dog,,is he to go to the dog pound and bring a
sick dog home to die to satisfy the persons
wish? If he brings home a dog who is healthy
does he wish ill health on this dog? Is there
such a person like Dr.Kervorkian for dogs and cats?? What does this person do?? Play Heavy Metal Music for the dog hoping to drive the dog insane???

Is that what people on this Forum are all about? Bob is and will always be a friend of mine no matter what,,,I hang in there with my
friends,,,,,right or wrong..

I think Bob was guilty of one thing and one thing alone..he should have not wasted his time to let this bother him as it obviously
did,,he's human,,maybe a bit thin skinned like myself,,,but I'll say one thing ,,I dont
enjoy a "gang bang" that is not my bag,,and
I dont have a sick dog so dont wish anything
on me,,,cause it wont happen. Image

Rather than see Bob attacked for something he may have said in a moment of anger,,I would rather quit this gig... Paul Harvey.
Good day. Image Dont leave your pants in the dressing room,,I did, and look at me now.
ImageIm Back In The Saddle Again..with a horse and no pants on,,,,think thats easy....talk about ridin bare back,,Im ridin bare $ss.

Bob will ALWAYS have my friendship and RESPECT,,,,,,remember that long forgotton word...CONSIDERATION...it may be of some help
to you one day...Get a Dog,,then you can beat
up on the dawg..OH yeah I almost forgot,,
COMPASSION for the other guy.......Lock er up
there Sheriff. The Posse is a comin. edited
My dog has "hemmorhoids" can he die from that? hope not,,someone may wish that on me.

Never met a man that cared more for the steel guitar than Sam; anyone that would slam his "post" to promote the steel guitar has a problem.

The Bee Is Such a Busy Soul
He Has No Time For Birth Control
That Is Why In Times Like These
There Are So Many "Sons of "Bee's"

Jody,
I too have a lot of close friends just as you and Bob Maickel are. And that's a good thing. I also try to stand by my friends in whatever situation or circumstance. However, if my close friend is wrong about a situation or circumstance or whatever, I'll not defend him as being right. As his friend and because I am his friend I would try to help him do what is right or correct the wrong that he has done.
Bob Maickel was wrong both in his interpretation of what Sam said/asked and his vehement attack on Sam personally in a public venue.
I don't argue that he doesn't have that right to do so. He, you, I and everyone else has that right. I even joined the armed forces to help make sure that we all, including Bob Maickel and millions of people I'll never know, have that right, and would do so again if they would have me.
Sometimes, the best people to point out our errors are our friends.
Just one of those "sons of a busy bee",

I humbly apologize to Sam White and to all concerned regarding my reply to Sam's original post. There was a miscommunication which prompted me to reply in the manner I did. I meant no harm to Sam, whom I consider a friend and a pioneer in promoting the steel guitar in Rhode Island. May he continue to enjoy good health while he dedicates his efforts toward the advancement of steel guitar.

Thanks Sam for all your hard work and dedication!

Bob,
I appreciate what you just did. It takes a real man and a sincere person to apologize and for that, you have all my respect back.
May God bless all.

Bob Miackle I accept your Apology and as a member of the PSGA I will remian a member even if you did not Apologize to me.I only got involved with steel guitar 5 years ago. I had one back in 1976 new nothing about it but just wanted to play a steel guitar.I keep it for a couple of months and new nothing about it so I sold it.I just got going on a new Fessenden that Jerry built for me and that is when I finaly got involved with Pedal Steel Guitar. I never played a Instrument in my life. I wanted to play steel when I was 10 years old.All my freinds were in Rock and Roll and they use to laugh at me because I would listen to Hank Williams,Webb Peirce, Dottie West,
Skeeter Davis,Kitty Wells, and all the old time country music. Also I do not know all the Steel Guitar Associations as I have been to involved with my Assoc. and now I joined The Mid Atlantic Steel Guitar Association and I'm busy trying to learn songs to play at there shows every month. The MASGA has a steel show every month and I go all over the area to be at them. I will be running The Rhode Island Steel Guitar Association Show September 22nd and then be back here in Wilson North Carolina the folling week end.I'm bad when I play and goof up. The last show on Sunday morning I goofed up right away. I did not say a word to anyone I got up and packed up and came home.I was just so ticked off at myself I did not want to stay there and face all those great Steel players it kind of hurts when I can't even pick up from the player before you.I will keep trying and some day I'll get it right. So you see Bob I have a lot going and don't have time to do a lot of reading. I want to play this Steel so bad I can taste it.I spend most of my time trying to play Steel Guitar.

Boy I'm getting better when I can sit back with my fingers itching to type. One Forum rule is "attack the issues not the person".I thought it was a great Idea to see how many Associations for the pedal steel there are out there.I lived in New England for several years and was aware of the PSGA and some of the great events they put on. but I never had many Sundays off to travel except the wallingford shows I got to with Smitty. The great thing about one association is that it usually gets you information about another and the Pedal steel is the winner. I was always busy playing 5-6 nights a week so I couldn't attend one all the time unless my Pedal steel Player was playing in one and asked me to front his set.Jimmy Smith who played Steel with me for a bunch of years and beers and who now lives in Texas introduced me to Pedal steel shows, When he was involved with the Dekley Pedal Steel Corp . You have to admire Sammy Whites energy and his efforts in promoting The new (so to speak)Rhode Island group.(Must have a good travel budget) No less an effort than any other established clubs. We have one forming here in Florida right now. (might say west central Fla.) Jack Stoner put me on his mailing list so I will make a strong effort to support this new club. Not everyone on the Forum is a great player in fact some are not players and you don't have to be to love and support one of the greatest instruments ever invented. Certainly one of the most difficult to master.I won't comment on the comments because they were manly corrected.Nice to see there are guys like Bowman and Carver out there willing to say what they feel should be said. Now back to the friendliest place to be on the Forum. Image

Jugtown Steel Guitar Club, Gardendale, (just north of Birmingham) Alabama.
fwiw...Gardendale was called jugtown before it was incorperated in the 50's because it was home to a clay jug factory. Image

William, Good job!! That's what Sam's Post WAS ALL About!..And I thought that it was a good idea!.I know There has been similer post to see where the PSG Assiations are. I know Sam personnally..He is trying very hard to be a Steeler and travels all over going to shows and jams. I also like to go to other shows and jams ..and find it interesting ..just how many associations there are. I tried to start the Tri Cities or East Tennessee Steel Assn last year..had a little help from some great pickers..Herby Wallace,Mike Sweeny,Bryan Adams,Jerry Flemming,Steve Lenord,Pat Jenkins, Fred Layman..and some great musicians and helpers..but the association realy didn't take off...so I've put my efforts into the Mid Atlantic Pedal Steel Assn. and I support the PSGA and NTSGA..plus this forum. I also support the Southern Steel Guitar Assn...and just had a ball at the Chatanooga Reunion.. I thought that I WAS a Steeler..untill I got around some of the "BIG BOYS" and a lot of the vey talanted local and regional pickers. A lot of times..a steeler can't get to pick at one "show or another"..Therefore .the more local or regional PSG Associations is where the "other pickers" can show off or try to play or listen and "steel" some licks.. So a LIST and location of the various PSG associations, clubs, groups, shows, clubs, etc. seems like a great idea to me for the steel guitar enthusiest..every where!!! Crowbear..why not start one in you're area. When I was stationed in Germany..(seems like a 100 years ago) i knew of only about 5 steelers in Germany and Eastern France. And I was one of the 5. I played mostley US Military Clubs in Germany and a couple "GI" type clubs in France.. I understand now that there are Numerous pickers..Just post it ..and agree on a meeting place..or find someone to host it. It won't hurt to try..because it is quite a swim to "our neck of the woods".
