On that record, it's Kayton Roberts. His live player is Andy Gibson, who studied under Kayton. That is, unless he's changed in the last year or so.

Big fan of III here, and of Andy Gibsons playing. I think alot of folks here would really dig III and Andy's old timey no pedal sound. People complain alot here about how there is no more REAL country music..well, III delivers the goods. Dont be scared folks , theres no punk rock on these records.

Just saw those guys a few days ago! Seeing Andy Gibson live has inspired me to go out and buy a lap steel. Andy was playing a double neck fender. That's all I know and this is my first post. Can anybody point me in the right direction to shop for lap steels?

H Daniel,

welcome to the forum.
you can find lap steels for sale here on the forum in the instruments for sale section. and you can learn all about em in the "steel without pedals" section of this forum too. They will help you select a good one if you ask them.

I think Andy plays a Fender dual 8 stringmaster?
Depending on what you had in mind to spend thes might be out of your price range for a beginers instrument. The good news is there are tons of great vintage lap steels out there that go for pretty cheap still. have fun...but dont expect to sound like Andy right off the bat (or even after a couple years) :D
