Agreed. There's a world of differences between a "60s and or 70s" guitar. Let's see some pics :?

I'm not an expert on Buds by any means but my best guess is it's a later 70s model or maybe even 80s. No gumby headstock and the word "The" before "Pro 1" didn't come to be until Gretsch became a part of the picture. It also appears to have the two "Es" levers. Feel free to contradict me. I may be wrong.

Did I see this one on ebay not too long ago?

Real purty :)

What a pretty guitar! That would be my second choice of color. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my chin.

That is a beauty and my Pro I looks identical..seems the seller told me mine was from '81-'82..but I'm not positive....these are really great sounding steels and easy to move around too...

I believe it is early 1980s. I had one just like it around 1992 and recorded only one CD project with it.

That was my only project I ever recorded not using my 14 string BMI. I wanted to record some tunes not commonly associated with the E9th just to see if I could pull it off. It went fairly well with songs like B-Bowman Hop, Raisin' The Dickens, Crazy and others but I went back to my 14 stringer because I was used to that sound.

That Sho-Bud was a good little axe and great starter or for someone who wants to focus only on E9th. Yes, it is a beautiful steel. The Sho-Buds have their own sound. Lloyd Green got the best sound from a Sho-Bud I ever heard. I still view him as a Master Player and true steel artist. His steel had only 2 more knees on it than this steel. My point is alot of music in this steel.

Sho Bud 10 string

Post by Hank Mann »

Hey thanks guys for all the great info. By the way this guitar has never been on ebay. Its been in my closet for 5 years at least.( sad but true) Ive been play'n my Fender triple and the 12 strings I build. These non-pedals lend themselves more to Hawaiian and western swing, at least for me. BUT setting up and playing this Sho bud and putting it up for sale, has re kindled my love for
this guitar and her pedals. Any one ever heard of a pedal steel you can play standing up? I'm way too antsy to sit down on stage.Thanx again for all your great responses..Viva la Forum!!

Hey every one Thank you for all you responses.I have decided to pull this guitar
off the market so I can bring it up to "sale speed". Its pedals are set up for an E9 Ive got it tuned to C6 , the fret board issue. and it needs general dialing in and adjustment.. I will take care of all those details so I can sell it in tip top condition....Besides I have fallen in love with it all over again...ahh shucks! Thanks again for all your help and knowledge. Happy picking......
