JMPTB-8 Joe Morrell Pro 8-String Lap Steel

Does anyone have any experience with this model? It looks like it might be a nice low end instrument but one never knows.

I have 2, 8 string Morrells and I have no problems with them. I think about changing the Lipstick Pickup on one, but never get it done.

I have one and love it. I think the scale length is about 23". I am away from home right now so I cant measure it. The lipstick pick up sounds bright and clear. I had to adjust the bridge a bit, but now it's great.

I make my own lap steels, but with these 8 strings available at this price I don't see any reason to make any more!

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I am trying to find out what the scale length of this model is. I only play 24 & 1/4" as I don't always look down when playing, like when reading charts, so consistency is key for me. Anyone out there know the specifics on this models? I've tried contacting the company but they don't seem to want my money enough to bother replying. I can'tunderstand why they don't have this info on thier site!

thanks,
myk

Myk, If you call them, they will do everything possible to help you. They are good people to deal with. I was told by a conpany rep a short time back that their quality control dept. has been improved. Some companies get so many emails they would have to hire a person just to answer emails. If you want answers the phone is the way to go. If you don't have to look at the fret board, then you should not have a big problem with any scale length. You will learn the change in a short time.

I have the "Little Roy Wiggins" 8 string model and it measures 22 7/8" from center nut to center bridge.

Dom - What did you do to adjust the bridge? Mine has developed a narrow crack which runs from one of the bridge screws to the end of the body.

I just "slotted" the holes in the bridge installed the screws and moved bridge till it lined up just right.
