Post by Danny Hammers »

Little Roy Wiggins In March 1993 At Roy's Music Shop in Pigeon Froge Tenn.
Playing and Telling Stores.
Thanks To Bob & Barbara Callaway of The Louisville Metro Steel Guitar Club,
for this priceless Video. Long time friends of Little Roy's, Bob and Barbara are
on the first part of the first video.

It was 48 minutes of video broken down into 5 videos for YouTube
It kill me to downgrade this video to uploaded.

I think theres only 1 other video of Little Roy at ISGC, on YouTube

Listen for him to tell what he calls Don Helms and what Don calls Roy.

Little Roy Wiggins/ The Ting-A- Ling Man

Post by Bernie Gonyea »

Hi Danny and Pat: Thank you so much for sharing these clips of Little Roy; they are excellent memories of his playing with the late and great George Morgan and naturally his association with the great Eddie Arnold; I loved his ting- a ling pickin' with both these gents. Beautiful; beautiful; beautiful. He was the back bone to their songs
Am I not right about that , Eddie cunningham?
Thanks again, Danny...Bernie   .

I can remember back about 1973 when the song Steel Guitar Man was playing on the radio in Richlands Virginia where I grew up. I was in High School and I saved up my lunch money and bought the LP...I remember it had a picture on the back of Little Roy Wiggins and his guitar...I don't remember the brand name on the guitar but that really got me interested in learning to play.

Brings back a lot of memories of my ex "Boss".

I think that steel is the Sho-Bud that was made for him after his Gibson was stolen. Roy had, at the time I worked for him in Nashville, both a D-8 Gibson and a D-8 Fender. He had the Gibson in his attic and brought it down to the shop and had me clean it up and restring it. He started using it as his "regular" guitar. I have no idea what happened to the Fender.
