i got a BOSS DD-6 Delay ...... now what ?

several 'good' steel players recommended that I get a delay pedal..... I did!

I hooked it up, but didn't know how to set it?

Help Anyone?

start by setting it for 1 or slightly more repeats at slightly less volume on the repeat. then play!

This unit can be used for MANY different things, String sections with the Boss Fuzz, speed picking echo trick, just play fattening the tone etc.
All these require different settings, you need to learn all these tricks and then take the money to the bank!

Yeah, Bruce most good players, and I, too, use it for a subtle tone "fattening" device. Fast speed, 1 repeat, and I put the mix at about 11:00 on my DD3.

I was told that this was Lloyd Green's setting, not positive but it sure sounds good here.
First knob 8:00
Second knob 11:00
Third knob 1:00
Forth knob select 7

Those are Lloyds setting, but for the Boss RV3 reverb & delay pedal, but heck they might be close for just the delay pedal too. Not sure about the 4th one as it is the "mode" setting on the RV3.

I'm going to get a DD-6 soon myself. Since it's stereo,I can run it before one of my many RV-5's

I see where BOSS has come out with the new DD-7 Digital Delay. From the video, the DD-6 would be the best for steel,or the DD-3

The best feature of the DD-6: the user can tap in the delay time 'on the fly' (as a song is playing). This allows you to easily sync the repeats to the tempo of the song. There is no more guesswork on the bandstand, trying to match the delay time to a particular song. Very handy for playing 'Albert Lee style' solos on guitar and for longer delays on PSG. I've had a DD-6 for almost a year and I use it for guitar gigs and steel gigs. I won't play without it.
