New Weissenborn tune in Cmaj7 tuning (youtube clip)
Hi folks,
Today I wrote a little song in Cmaj7 tuning. Here is a video - the take is far from perfect, but it had a nice feel, so. Feedback would be much appreciated as it is always hard to judge a fresh song idea!

Thanks for listening and for your comments! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Kyle - good to hear that you are enjoying the G minor tuning. I really like all the full-sounding minor chords in that tuning, and the dominant major chord is easily accessible too:
0X4XX0 or 0X0X44 etc.
Michael - the tuning in this tune here is Cmaj7: CGCEBC, low to high. It is a tuning that Brazilian Weissenborn player Christiaan Oyens told me about. It's very cool with the chromatic interval between the top two strings!
Thanks again folks!

That's excellent Fred!
I like how you are getting the variety of different tones really adding depth to the tune, deep & full thumb-strums and that nice crisp "back-of-the-index-finger-strum-thing"... sweet.
How long have you been experimenting with this particular tuning?
When are you going to make an album of tunes?
That would be really interesting to hear.

Thanks Chris and Tom!
Chris - I wrote two songs in this tuning when I first found out about it. I hadn't played in this tuning for a long time, and just got the idea to revisit it on Saturday. The Lazy River sounds GREAT tuned down to C! And this clip was recorded with quite old strings. I busted a string when changing the tuning back to G on Sunday and restrung it - with new strings in the Cmaj7 tuning the Lazy River has a huge, shimmering, warm - fantastic! - sound!
An album - I would like to make one, but I want to get a bit better first. I have my "Crystal Bar EP" on Slide Planet, but it was recorded when I had only been lap sliding for about a year and a half. I want to move it up a few more notches before I release another CD.
All the best,
Fred
