Hi Jim,

Can't view it now as I am at work (no Myspace allowed here), but excited to watch it as soon as I get home tonight.
Jim, as one of the top players in this forum, you certainly DON'T suck.
I for one love (and everyone here I am sure) to listen to your precise and skilled playing.

Blessings,
Abel

Honest criticism here:

I miss the rest of the band. Your time sounds funny to me and I think it might be because there's no drummer and bass player in the mix. Frequently your attack on the note sounds late, and other times is sounds rushed. Your sense of where to place the note seems to be different from the singer and acoustic guitar. I think a rhythm section might smooth these out.

Also, I would like to hear some actual volume pedal work.

Your notes choices and licks sound great though!

Please keep in mind this is only IMO, and I could be full of it. Whoa!

Hi jim,

I went to Myspace and heard your recordings.

Twayn,
What you say is true, and the fact that even the singer is sometimes slighty out of sync (especially in the first part) tells me that it's all in the tracks mixing and the guitar's tempo is inconsistant throughout the songs. I have seen Jim play live and his timing is excellent.
Jim could maybe tell us how it was recorded.
That said, I really love Jim's playing and sound.
His pitch is precise and his licks are delightful.
I wish he lived close to teach me steel.
Also, I' d love to back him up on electric / acoustic guitar one day if he needed it.
Bravo Jim.

Blessings,
Abel

Our "EX"-engineer did leave us with a slight phasing issue with the acoustic guitar tracks due to the way he insisted on recording them, and we had to decide if we were going to scrap the whole thing and start over or finish the project with what was already done. It's not perfect and we know that, but our current budget just does not allow us to throw it out and start over.

I wish I could comp like you. Wonderful.
What a great folksy, blues sound.
Surely Woody Gutherie and Jimmie Rogers would be proud.

As an Okie, I did enjoy the Oklahoma reference on the blog. >GR< Even tho I've spent the last 30 something years in Louisiana! Some great sounds down here.
Ya'll would certainly be applauded here. If possible,
get booked if you want. Natchitaches, LA just had their music festival. But there are many others across the state.

Lot's of my Dust Bowl family still out there on the West Coast.

We could stand a lot more of that quality of music across the air waves, imo.

It takes a lot of guts to put your stuff up for criticism. I really enjoyed.

I also know how to pronounce Sepulveda, tho it's Sepulvado here being a Spanish land grant area.
Even before California.

Good luck, smooth seas, and success to you and the band-

Ah, that would explain my confusion! Like I said, nice notes, nice chords! I definitely understand budget issues. I still could wish for more volume pedal work though and I would like to hear a full rhythm section Very Happy
